Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Duvernay Operations is actively hiring a Mechanical Tradesperson to join the team. This position reports to the Maintenance Lead and supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Duvernay facility in the Fox Creek area, part of Pembina Gas Infrastructure Operations.
The Mechanical Tradesperson will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, reliable operation of the facilities by performing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and commissioning of stationary and rotating mechanical equipment. The successful candidate will also support maintenance planning, equipment reliability, contractors, and apprentices as required.
Pembina’s Duvernay assets support the gathering, compression, processing, and transportation of natural gas and associated liquids in the Fox Creek area. Working within this team means contributing to complex operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
- Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data; Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by applying Pembina’s corporate safety standards in all aspects of daily work while continuously enhancing knowledge of safe work practices and procedures;
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and commissioning of mechanical and rotating equipment including compressors, engines, pumps, valves, gearboxes, fans, coolers, and associated systems;
- Perform preventative maintenance, equipment overhauls, facility turnarounds, and non-routine maintenance activities;
- Maintain and troubleshoot Waukesha natural gas engines, Caterpillar 3600-series engines, Solar Turbines equipment, and associated compressor packages;
- Utilize SAP and maintenance management systems to manage work orders, notifications, inventory, and maintenance records;
- Support the construction, commissioning, and start-up of new facilities and equipment;
- Collaborate with Engineering, Technical Services, Operations, contractors, and equipment vendors to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and maintain equipment reliability;
- Provide technical support and mentorship to apprentices and junior tradespeople;
- Coordinate maintenance activities during facility shutdowns and equipment outages;
- Participate in safety procedures, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives;
- Support maintenance planning, vendor quotations, equipment repairs, and maintenance optimization;
- Maintain accountability for Pembina tools, equipment, vehicles, and other company assets;
- Camp-based position on a rotating 7-on/7-off schedule consisting of 12 hour day shifts, participate in an on-call rotation, and work modified schedules, including nights and weekends, as operational requirements dictate; and
- Support and participate in an inclusive and diverse workplace.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Millwright or equivalent recognized Mechanical Maintenance trade certification;
- 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial, natural gas processing, compression, or energy-related environment;
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting reciprocating and rotating equipment;
- Experience with Waukesha natural gas engines, Caterpillar 3600-series engines, and Solar Turbines equipment is strongly preferred;
- Experience with reciprocating compressors, centrifugal compressors, screw compressors, pumps, gearboxes, and associated equipment is considered an asset;
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and engineering standards;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with SAP or another computerized maintenance management system is preferred;
- Strong communication, organizational, teamwork, and time-management skills;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; and
- Must be available for on-call rotations and occasional work outside regular scheduled hours to support operational requirements.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
The successful candidate must reside within 100 km of Fox Creek, AB.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
