Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation is recruiting for a Tradesperson, Mechanical to join the Liquids Transportation & Fractionation asset team based in Whitecourt. Reporting to the Foreman, this role supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations through the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems across district assets.
This position plays a key role in advancing Pembina’s business strategy by supporting strong asset performance, operational reliability, and continuous improvement across our Liquids Transportation network. Working collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams, this role contributes to sustaining existing assets, enabling safe operations, and supporting long-term growth aligned with Pembina’s strategic priorities.
This is a field-based position requiring regular site travel, participation in an on-call rotation, and work in industrial environments.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Mechanical Maintenance & Operations
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems including pumps, rotating equipment, piping, valves, PSVs, and tank mixers;
- Complete work orders and documentation in SAP/Blueworx, and maintain company service vehicles and equipment;
- Support daily pipeline operations, site maintenance, and housekeeping activities; and
- Execute safe work permits and oversee contractor work as required.
Maintenance Planning & Reliability
- Execute preventative maintenance programs and implement reliability tools and processes;
- Analyze equipment performance, perform bad actor analysis, and initiate corrective actions;
- Support planning and scheduling of mechanical work in collaboration with Operations and other disciplines; and
- Contribute to reliability initiatives, including risk identification, KPI development, and master data management.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and support Pembina’s safety culture of “Zero by Choice” and adherence to Life Saving Rules;
- Ensure regulatory maintenance and compliance requirements are met; and
- Maintain a strong commitment to personal, process, and team safety.
Collaboration & Field Execution

- Work collaboratively across Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to safely execute work and improve efficiency;

- Demonstrate learning agility by seeking feedback, adapting to new information, and applying learnings to improve performance in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Trade Certification (Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Pipefitter);
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (driver’s abstract required);
- Experience in industrial maintenance or operations, with exposure to reliability practices;
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment used in the hydrocarbon or similar industrial environment;
- Experience with SAP/Blueworx or similar maintenance systems is an asset;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams;
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement aligned with Pembina’s values; and
- Demonstrated learning agility, including the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools, technologies, and processes.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing, including testing for marijuana metabolites. A Driver’s Abstract may also be required.
The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Whitecourt, AB.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
