Overview:


Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Duvernay facility is actively hiring for a Gas Plant Operator to join the team. This position reports to the Day Foreman, Operations in the Gas Services Business Unit (GBU), part of Pembina’s Operations Business Division.  

The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts.

The Duvernay Complex is made up of the Duvernay Gas Plant and the Duvernay Sour Processing Plant. It is located approximately 9 km west of Fox Creek. The Duvernay Gas Plant is a sweet gas processing plant, with 3 main processing areas: D1, DR2 and DR3. The plant receives dehydrated gas from various field hubs where it is separated and conditioned for sale. The Duvernay Sour Processing Plant includes inlet handling area (DH1), stabilization area (DS1, DS2, and DS3), amine sweetening area (DT1, DT2 and DA1), and gas lift area (DK1). The plant is a sour gas processing plant that sweetens natural gas from third party pipelines before the gas is sent to the Duvernay Gas Plant.

The rotation/shifts for this position include: (7 on, 7 off; 7 days, 7 nights; 12-hour shifts). As a Gas Plant Operator, you will be responsible for daily operations of the plant and field sites.

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Fox Creek.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Start up, operate and shut down unit operations within the gas plant as well as the entire plant;
  • Review, understand and fully utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work;
  • Ensure all safety documentation is completed for all personnel working in the facilities under operational care. This will include Safe Work Permits and Field Level Task Assessments;
  • Clearly document facility operations in logbook reporting, daily production reports and reliability reporting;
  • Lead and participate in commissioning and start-up activities;
  • Work with Pembina management, engineering firms and equipment vendors to develop a comprehensive set of procedures that will enable safe and reliable plant operation;
  • Identify and troubleshoot process upsets, take proportional action to resolve issues;
  • Call out maintenance for equipment repairs, and ensure the priority level for repairs is communicated as required;
  • Look for cost savings opportunities & relay to team during operations meetings;
  • Incident reporting;
  • Keep safety tickets up to date and coordinate required training;
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace; and
  • Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

 

  • Post-secondary education in the oil & gas industry is an asset;
  • Preference will be given to those who have completed 3rd Class Power Engineering or Fired Process Heater competency;
  • 5+ years of gas processing experience. And a proven track record of reliability and integrity in managing gas plant operations, ensuring compliance with all safety and operational procedures;
  • Equipment experience including natural gas compression, refrigeration, and at a minimum shallow cut (de-ethanizer), condensate stabilization and produced water injection;
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, or processes and apply them effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Effective communication skills, fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment that values diverse perspectives and collaboration;
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a flexible attitude to accommodate the variable duties of the position; 
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License; and
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.

You will also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
