Overview:

Pembina Pipeline’s Conventional Business Unit, is searching for a Sr. Tradesman, Electrical to join the team in the Valleyview location. This Technician will report to the Foreman, Valleyview North.  Pembina's pipeline assets comprise a strategically located network of pipelines and related infrastructure including various hubs and terminals providing long-term, dedicated transportation services to our customers. This network transports Crude Oil, Condensate, NGL and Ethane across much of Alberta.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of duties, focused on providing operational inputs to a wide range of projects and maintenance activities. This individual will utilize technical and business acumen to initiate, support and contribute to strategic decision making, as it relates to the safe, reliable, and cost effectiveness of operational activities. 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety; 
  • Ensure duties are completed in accordance with Pembina’s procedures, regulatory requirements and industry best practice;
  • Responsible for maintaining PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, valve operators, meters, flow computers, protection relays, VFDs, low and medium voltage electrical equipment, UPS systems and conducting field inspections to ensure safe and reliable operations; 
  • Lock out of equipment and working in collaboration with Mechanical, E/I and Operations groups;
  • Install new instrumentation and electrical equipment;
  • Supervise contractors as required;
  • Ensure all maintenance is completed to predetermined schedules and meets regulatory requirements;
  • Complete field inspections to ensure reliable dependable and efficient operations;
  • Recommend improvements to Facility efficiency and optimization and follow through to completion utilizing assistance from Operations Engineering and being compliant with our MOC (Management of Change) process;
  • Create notifications, enter material requests attach required documentation, ensuring complete Work Orders within SAP;
  • Assist in creating THA’s (Task Hazard Assessment) when required;
  • Participate in a diverse and inclusive work environment; and
  • Participate in an On Call rotation responding to after hour call outs due to equipment and/or operational problems. 

Qualifications:

  • Provincial Journeyman Red Seal Certification in Electrical with 5 progressive years of pipeline operating experience and/or related energy industry experience is preferred;
  • Experience using SAP Maintenance Management highly desirable;
  • 4160V Experience is considered an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of Blueprints, Modicon PLC’s, RTU’s, along with other analytical and instrumentation equipment associated with pipeline operations;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, SAP and other business-related computer programs and applications;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
  • Safety Courses: TDG, H2S Alive, First Aid would be an asset, but if incomplete, will be provided by Pembina to the successful candidate;
  • A balanced, flexible adaptive approach to change;
  • Collaborative nature, with strong capabilities contributing to teams with proven success of positive interfacing with Field, Engineering, and Technical Support personnel; and
  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication.


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.

The successful candidate must live within 50 km of Valleyview, AB.
