Overview:

Pembina Pipeline’s Liquids, Transportation and Fractionation asset team is actively hiring an Operator to join the Valleyview team. Reporting to the Day Foreman, the Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of pipeline infrastructure supporting the transportation of crude oil, condensate and NGL across northwestern Alberta and surrounding regions. This role supports a geographically diverse asset base and may require travel between sites as operational needs demand. This role is a rotating day shift schedule and includes participation in an on-call rotation to support safe and reliable operations.

Liquids Transportation & Fractionation is a critical part of Pembina's integrated midstream value chain, connecting producers and customers through the safe, reliable transportation, storage, and processing of hydrocarbon liquids. This business area manages a network of pipelines, terminals, caverns, and fractionation facilities that move and transform natural gas liquids (NGLs) into valuable products such as propane, butane, and condensate. Working within this team means contributing to complex operations that support North American energy markets, optimize product value, and deliver reliable service to customers while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data;
• Complete assigned work safely, efficiently, and in an environmentally responsible manner while adhering to company policies, regulatory requirements, operating procedures, and industry best practices;
• Execute daily pipeline operations activities, including product measurement and accounting, sampling and quality verification, facility and right-of-way inspections, pipeline integrity monitoring, pigging operations, and documentation of operational data to support safe and reliable system performance;
• Perform routine, preventative, corrective, and non-routine maintenance on pipeline infrastructure and associated equipment, including pumps, valves, meter stations, block valves, pressure control equipment, and ancillary systems to ensure asset reliability and operational readiness;
• Monitor pipeline and facility performance, investigate abnormal operating conditions and system upsets, identify root causes, and implement timely corrective actions to minimize operational risk and maintain product movement;
• Support pipeline integrity, reliability, and asset management programs through inspections, equipment condition assessments, maintenance planning, and participation in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational performance and reducing downtime;
• Travel between operating areas and work out of town as required to support maintenance activities, operational requirements, emergency response situations, capital projects, and major outage work scopes;
• Coordinate, supervise, and monitor contractor activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Pembina standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications;
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal teams, landowners, contractors, customers, emergency responders, regulators, and industry stakeholders to support safe and effective operations;
• Maintain pump stations, meter facilities, block valve sites, tools, equipment, and company vehicles in a clean, organized, and operationally ready condition while proactively identifying maintenance or housekeeping concerns;
• Demonstrate strong adaptability and learning agility by continuously expanding operational and technical knowledge, embracing new technologies, equipment, procedures, and business processes, and quickly applying lessons learned to improve performance, reliability, and operational effectiveness;
• Effectively manage changing priorities, operational demands, emergency situations, and multiple concurrent work activities while exercising sound judgment, maintaining attention to detail, and delivering results in a fast-paced operating environment;
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required to support safe, reliable, and efficient pipeline operations; and

Qualifications:

• Related industry experience, with pipeline, terminal, facility, or operations experience preferred;
• Experienced, adaptable, and safety-focused individual with a strong commitment to operational excellence;
• Journeyman Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanic, or Millwright certification is considered an asset;
• Strong mechanical aptitude with exposure to electrical and instrumentation systems;
• Ability to safely perform field operations and maintenance activities in a dynamic operating environment;
• Proven ability to work effectively within a collaborative, accountable, and team-oriented culture;
• Demonstrated learning agility with the ability to quickly learn new technologies, systems, and operating processes;
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and changing operational demands;
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and digital maintenance management systems for documentation, reporting, and work management activities;
• Experience using SAP, BlueWorx, or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) would be considered an asset;
• Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Technical Support teams;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Safety certifications such as TDG, H2S Alive, and Standard First Aid are considered assets. Candidates who do not currently hold these certifications may obtain them through company-provided training upon hire; and
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License required.
  
  

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
