Millwright Mechanical Tradesperson

Overview:

Pembina Pipeline is actively recruiting a Mechanical Tradesperson (Millwright) to join the Operations Team supporting our Liquids Transportation & Fractionation business. Reporting to the Day Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our pipeline and terminal assets through the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of rotating and stationary equipment. 

The ideal candidate is a safety-focused and conscientious Tradesperson with strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. You are adaptable, take ownership of your work, and demonstrates sound judgment in maintaining and repairing critical equipment. Success in this role requires a commitment to safe work practices, equipment reliability, continuous learning, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an operations team.  This role is a rotating day shift schedule and includes participation in an on-call rotation to support safe and reliable operations.

Liquids Transportation & Fractionation is a critical part of Pembina's integrated midstream value chain, connecting producers and customers through the safe, reliable transportation, storage, and processing of hydrocarbon liquids. This business area manages a network of pipelines, terminals, caverns, and fractionation facilities that move and transform natural gas liquids (NGLs) into valuable products such as propane, butane, and condensate. Working within this team means contributing to complex operations that support North American energy markets, optimize product value, and deliver reliable service to customers while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data;
• Complete corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance activities on rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, motors, gearboxes, coupling systems, and associated auxiliary equipment, utilizing Pembina’s maintenance management program, equipment condition monitoring data, and reliability-centered maintenance practices;
• Perform operational activities in support of pipeline and facility operations, including pipeline pigging activities, product quality sampling and analysis, valve and equipment inspections, startup and shutdown activities, troubleshooting operational issues, and responding to abnormal operating conditions;
• Continuously develop technical knowledge of rotating equipment, maintenance technologies, reliability practices, and operational processes, applying lessons learned, emerging industry practices, and new technologies to improve equipment performance and operational reliability;
• Provide technical support for capital projects, equipment upgrades, and Management of Change (MOC) initiatives by contributing maintenance expertise, reviewing technical documentation, identifying operational impacts, and supporting safe implementation of modifications;
• Assist with the installation, commissioning, startup, testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of new mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring alignment with design specifications, operational requirements, and maintenance expectations;
• Support and participate in rotating equipment overhauls, major maintenance activities, and outage work scopes, including equipment inspections, failure analysis, precision maintenance practices, alignment activities, vibration reviews, and repair recommendations;
• Utilize maintenance data, equipment history, and field observations to identify equipment reliability trends, recommend improvements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset performance and reduce unplanned downtime;
• Demonstrate adaptability and learning agility by acquiring proficiency on a wide range of mechanical equipment, operational systems, maintenance technologies, and business processes, while supporting evolving operational priorities and emerging asset requirements;

Qualifications:

• Journeyman Mechanic, Millwright, or equivalent Interprovincial Red Seal certification will be considered;
• Previous experience in oil and gas, pipeline, terminal, refinery, petrochemical, or industrial operations is considered a strong asset;
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, rotating equipment, and associated mechanical systems in a safe and efficient manner;
• Knowledge of preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices, including equipment inspections, failure identification, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement initiatives;
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and digital maintenance management systems for documentation, reporting, and work management activities;
• Experience using SAP, BlueWorx, or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) would be considered an asset;
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and other stakeholders;
• Demonstrated learning agility, curiosity, and willingness to continuously develop technical skills, learn new equipment and technologies, and adapt to evolving operational requirements;
• Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, respond to changing operational demands, and adjust work plans as required while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and asset reliability;
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment;
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required; and
• Safety certifications such as TDG, H2S Alive, and Standard First Aid are considered assets. Candidates who do not currently hold these certifications may obtain them through company-provided training upon hire.

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
