Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring for a Sr Advisor, Project Safety to join the team. This position reports to the Supervisor, Contract Safety in the Safety department part of Pembina’s Operations division.
Promoting Pembina’s Safety Culture – Zero by Choice, the Safety Unit is dedicated to delivering quality products and services by leading the enterprise-wide occupational health and safety, process safety, physical security, and emergency management programs, insurance program and Operations Management System governance. The Safety team ensures compliance with all company, federal and local government health, safety, security and emergency management regulations and requirements ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, contractors, and communities.
The Senior Advisor will play a key role in advancing a proactive prevention culture to sustainably improve safety performance and will provide leadership to Contract Safety Representatives in the field.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

- Act as a subject matter expert on the Pembina Safety Program and applicable safety regulations while supporting capital and select operational projects;
- Mentor and coach others to strengthen safety leadership capabilities while supporting team safety meetings and delivering presentations on key safety topics;
- Build and enhance relationships with stakeholders where projects are being executed to implement safe, cost-effective loss prevention strategies;
- Build and maintain effective relationships with project stakeholders to implement safe, cost-effective loss prevention strategies while participating in internal and external audits;
- Develop and review hazard assessments for high-risk activities, such as confined space entry, working at heights, and construction projects;
- Support contractor selection by reviewing ISNetworld results, evaluating and grading contractor submissions, and verifying that contractor and subcontractor safety systems meet legislative, Pembina, and project-specific requirements;
- Promote consistent application of Pembina safety standards across all contractors and work scopes by supporting contractor kickoff and Safety Culture Expectation meetings;
- Conduct and support field inspections, audits, and safety observations to verify compliance with safety requirements;
- Collaborate with project managers, business units, and project teams to communicate safety expectations, identify compliance inspections through Project Safety Planning, and integrate safety into day-to-day decision-making and operational execution;
- Analyze and communicate safety statistics to project managers and the Construction Management Team (CMT) to support preventative measures and develop project-specific safety KPI metrics;
- Arrange on-site safety support, which includes procurement, onboarding, and supervision of contract safety representatives;
- Supervise Construction Safety Representatives, ensuring they meet company safety expectations;
- Collaborate with the Emergency Management team to align project emergency response plans with corporate plans; and
- Identify and develop “Learning from Incidents” opportunities for distribution while actively supporting and contributing to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety;
- Professional designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) is preferred;
- Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in oil and gas operations, maintenance, construction, and/or a safety-related discipline;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Contractor Safety Management with safety expertise and/or extensive experience in pipeline construction and maintenance;
- Strong knowledge of applicable industry safety requirements, standards, policies, and procedures including those of Canadian and United States Jurisdictions;
- Proven ability to apply innovative and tactical thinking, manage change initiatives, collaborate effectively, and negotiate;
- Demonstrated ability to influence without formal authority, facilitate discussions, solve problems, make sound decisions, work independently, manage multiple priorities, lead teams, and deliver results;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong capability in business-related systems and applications, including Business Intelligence (BI) tools;
- Extensive experience with ISNetworld, data management, safety metrics, reporting, and auditing tools and practices; and
- This role requires approximately 25% travel, with flexibility to undertake additional travel as required to support incident response and emergent operational needs.
