Overview:
The Operations Engineering Team is looking for a Supervisor, Project Engineering, to join the group. Reporting to the Manager, Project Engineering, the Supervisor is responsible for promoting an organizational culture that ensures the safe, compliant and reliable delivery of projects and operation of our assets. The Project Supervisor will support the Liquids Transportation and Fractionation Asset.
Pembina's Operations Engineering organization provides technical support and engineering expertise across a diverse portfolio of assets, including pipeline systems, gas processing plants, fractionation facilities, terminals, and related infrastructure throughout Canada and the United States. Partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Commercial, and Project teams, the organization is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of these assets while driving operational excellence, asset integrity, optimization, and continuous improvement across Pembina's integrated midstream network.
This role will primarily support projects being executed on pipelines and pipeline facilities across Alberta and British Columbia along with supporting the Redwater Fractionation Facility.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the Life Saving Rules, ensuring all work is executed safely and in compliance with applicable environmental, regulatory, and company requirements;
- Provide technical leadership and collaborative support to Operations and Operations Engineering teams—including discipline, contact, and process engineering—to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance across multiple asset portfolios;
- Lead the overall project portfolio, including prioritization, budgeting, and resource allocation, while maintaining flexibility to address emergent and unplanned work;
- Accountable for the successful delivery of projects managed by the Project Engineering team, including development, scope definition, planning, scheduling, cost control, procurement, regulatory approvals, execution, and forecasting;
- Lead, mentor, and develop project managers and support staff, including workload management, goal setting, performance management, and career development;
- Foster strong working relationships with Asset stakeholders and participate in sub-asset planning and prioritization activities to support planning, project selection, and asset investment decisions;
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in project development, execution strategies, processes, templates, and project controls;
- Maintain knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, engineering standards, construction practices, and project control systems;
- Fulfill the duties of the Responsible Member under Pembina’s PPMP for engineering work performed by the Project Engineering team; and
- Promote an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace aligned with Pembina’s values.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree in good standing with APEGA;
- 10+ years’ experience in technical roles, preferably with experience and good working knowledge of pipelines and associated infrastructure, gas processing facilities and experience in project execution and management;
- Must be highly analytical, self-motivating, have excellent communication skills, and have a demonstrated ability to establish strong internal and external relationships;
- Demonstrated experience in project development, including coordination between conceptual design, detailed engineering, field execution and commissioning;
- Demonstrate knowledge of relevant codes, regulatory bodies, and requirements to complete projects in Alberta and British Columbia;
- Knowledgeable in pipeline and facility construction practice, design, operations, and maintenance;
- Beneficial experience with various SAP applications, Microsoft application, GenAI, and solid computer literacy; and
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license, with a clean drivers abstract.
This role may be based out of Calgary or Sherwood Park. Individuals that may want to reside in Grande Prairie or Whitecourt may be considered for the role.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
