Pembina’s Technical Service Unit (TSU), is recruiting for a Specialist, Damage Prevention & Public Awareness. Reporting to the Supervisor, DPPA, the Specialist will be responsible for the development and coordination of key elements of the Damage Prevention Program including plan development, documentation, execution, effectiveness assessment, internal and external reporting, management reviews, and regulatory activities. 


Summary of Responsibilities 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate Damage Prevention and Public Awareness Program initiatives with affected internal and external stakeholders including Land, Communications, Regulatory, Operations, Integrity, Environment, and Emergency Management teams;
  • Provide oversite to Damage Prevention processes to ensure effective integration within Pembina’s Operating Management System;
  • Maintain the Program to meet regulatory and internal requirements;
  • Identifying damage Prevention stakeholder audiences and communicating messaging to the affected community and stakeholder audiences;
  • Engage with affected internal stakeholders supporting damage prevention activities;
  • Accountable for land use and pipeline depth of cover monitoring strategy;
  • Assisting in addressing any incident, non-compliance, non-conformance items related to damage prevention if necessary;
  • Participating in various internal and external (industry) Damage Prevention related initiatives; 
  • Participating in the Damage Prevention Working Group and assist with developing the key elements of the Program, utilized by all stakeholders; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.



  • Post-Secondary degree/certificate and/or equivalent experience in the field of damage prevention systems;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pipeline industry, 5 years of progressive experience in Damage Prevention-related roles;
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian and US Damage Prevention provincial/state and federal regulations;
  • Extensive knowledge of One Call systems and ticket management best practices;
  • Knowledge of pipeline crossing practices and regulations;
  • Self-motivated, independent, team player with a strong work ethic and initiative;
  • Proven ability to initiate and manage change, be innovative, problem solve, think strategically, and prioritize key tasks;
  • Superior communication skills with proven abilities engaging stakeholders to achieve results;
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and GIS viewer;
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Experience with project management and working with Regulators is preferred; and
  • Knowledge of industry networks and associations (Common Ground Alliance, etc.) is preferred.

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
