Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Redwater office actively hiring two Engineering Interns to join our team for an 8-month term (May-December 2026). The role reports to the Engineering Supervisor within the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembina’s Facilities Division.

The Redwater complex features multiple fractionators for processing paraffinic and olefinic natural gas liquids, along with significant cavern storage assets and cogeneration. This is a growing site with a strong focus on innovation and reliability.  As an Engineering Student, you will play a critical role in supporting engineering, projects, and maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operations.

 

NBU plays a key role in Fractionation, Terminaling & Storage, and Logistics and Distribution of specification natural gas liquids throughout North America. These liquids – Methane (C1), Ethane (C2), Propane (C3) Butane (C4) and Condensate (mixture of C5+) are essential components of the energy value chain. Fractionation involves separating these products into individual streams such as Ethane, Propane and Butane.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • The position is focused on working within an integrated team responsible for advancing development opportunities from initial concept through to FEED phases and delivering execution-ready projects to the E&C Execution team;
  • Support multiple Project Managers/Engineers in their day-to-day work;
  • Collaborate with project teams, Operations, and contractors while participating in field visits, design reviews, hazard assessments, and 3‑D model reviews;
  • The interdisciplinary team will be supporting ongoing planning and cost/schedule estimating for the overall execution of facilities infrastructure projects;
  • Support project scopes including collaboration with third-party engineering firms, construction specialists, and coordination of project delivery through the respective Stage Gates of Pembina’s Governance Lifecycle;
  • Support in identifying and outlining all applicable regulatory, land, Indigenous, and environmental applications related to the proposed construction of facilities;
  • Support in ensuring that projects satisfy all safety, technical, operational, commercial, maintenance, and quality requirements as defined in our specifications, standards, and practices;
  • Support Pembina’s “Zero by Choice” safety culture, Life Saving Rules, and values by working in a safe, respectful, trustworthy, collaborative, and inclusive manner;
  • Contribute to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace by being kind, professional, and effective when working with others; and
  • Support day‑to‑day engineering and learning activities, including the use of tools such as SAP, Microsoft Office, and Copilot/ChatGPT.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program and returning to school in the fall following the end of the work term;
  • Preference will be given to student who have completed the 1st year of a four-year accredited Engineering program in the disciplines of Mechanical or Chemical;
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the term and required schedule;
  • Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn in a structured environment, aligned with Pembina’s values and safety expectations;
  • Add role specific qualifications or assets related to the position here (e.g., technical training, certifications, tools, or prior exposure); and
  • At the end of the internship term, you will be asked to complete a learning project and deliver a presentation summarizing your experience, key learnings, and contributions.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
