Overview:

Pembina’s Vancouver Wharves office is seeking a Materials Analyst to join the Supply Chain team. Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, this analytical and coordination-focused role supports materials management within a unionized operating environment represented by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU).

 

The Materials Analyst supports inventory management, SAP transactions, master data accuracy, materials planning, delivery coordination, and continuous improvement, working across teams to ensure materials are available, accurately recorded, and managed in accordance with Pembina’s requirements.

Supply Chain delivers strategic value to the organization by optimizing technology for material acquisition, inventory carrying, transportation, and planning costs.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data;
  • Oversee inventory and materials workflows, ensuring inventory accuracy, investigating variances, and coordinating adjustments and reconciliations;
  • Coordinate physical inventory and cycle counts and support financial stewardship through inventory valuation, cost transfers, reconciliations and required SAP and financial follow-up;
  • Provide material planning and forecasting support by analyzing inventory levels, demand, lead times, and criticality to optimize stocking, replenishment, and material availability;
  • Manage slow-moving, surplus, and obsolete inventory, coordinating redeployment, returns, repairs, warranties, or approved disposal;
  • Govern material master data including MRP, valuation, and technical data and support the creation, sourcing, and stocking of new materials;
  • Provide SAP materials management support, including goods movements, transfers, reservations, returns, and inventory adjustments;
  • Partner with Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, vendors, and ILWU personnel to coordinate ILWU workflows and support material requirements, deliveries, outages, and maintenance activities;
  • Monitor inventory performance and reporting, including accuracy, stockouts, service levels, working capital, and process compliance;
  • Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen inventory controls, improve workflows, and reduce costs;
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with Pembina policies, Supply Chain standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable collective agreements and site protocols;
  • Provide stakeholder training and materials management guidance to support consistent processes, effective SAP use, and compliance across teams; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of related experience in inventory control, materials management, maintenance planning, procurement, supply chain, or a comparable industrial environment preferred;
  • Red Seal Parts Technician certification or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience considered a strong asset;
  • Experience supporting materials or inventory processes in a unionized operating environment is considered an asset;
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management, demand planning, critical spares, material lifecycle, and obsolescence management;
  • Proficiency with SAP Materials Management or a comparable ERP system is strongly preferred;
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document management tools;
  • Ability to interpret equipment information, technical documentation, material specifications, purchase history, and maintenance requirements;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and provide practical recommendations;
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities;
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across internal teams, vendors, and ILWU-represented personnel;
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and demonstrate strong follow-through;
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance, inventory controls, and continuous improvement;
  • Must understand and adhere to applicable collective agreements and site protocols when coordinating warehouse activities;
  • Ability to work on-site at Vancouver Wharves, with occasional work outside regular business hours to support operational requirements; and
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to meet site access requirements.

 

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.

You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.


The successful candidate must live within 100 km of the Vancouver area.

 

Pay Transparency Requirement: The base salary range for this position is $102,600.00  CAD to $108,000.00  CAD.  Actual total compensation may differ based on candidate's qualifications and location.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
