Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporations Aux Sable NGL Extraction and Fractionation Facility in Morris (Channahon), Illinois is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join the team. This position reports to the Supervisor, Mechanical Engineering in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembina’s Facilities Business Division.
The Aux Sable facility operates one of the largest NGL extraction and fractionation facilities in North America. It processes natural gas as well as produces NGL products and then delivers these via the Alliance Pipeline.
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for leading, coordinating, or performing advanced mechanical engineering problem solving in support of day-to-day operations, ensuring the reliability of critical fixed and rotating equipment and mechanical systems resulting in uninterrupted production. The Mechanical Engineer has daily contact with Projects, Maintenance, Operations, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Administration Staff, and requires extensive people management skills.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

- Manage and coordinate external engineering consultants, specialty consultants, and contractors to execute design, material procurement, equipment acquisition, construction, and commissioning of site facilities;
- Apply key plant design philosophies and standards to plant engineering scope;
- Leverage pipe specs to design and engineer new piping systems and generate required engineering deliverables such as piping isometrics;
- Support engineering changes in a piping system including those changes associated with new instrumentation or a change in instrumentation technology (i.e. flow, temperature, level, pressure, control valves, relief valves, analyzers, etc.);
- Execute MOCs (Management of Change) associated with Facility changes;
- Coordinate and lead PHA (Process Hazard Analysis);
- Engineer plant hot tap and stopples;
- Conduct PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Reviews) on changes associated with MOCs;
- Troubleshoot facility issues to minimize production impact;
- Review and select appropriate valve technology;
- Apply critical constructability requirements to mechanical system changes, including non-destructive testing requirements like hydrotesting and radiography testing as specified in key piping codes;
- Develop request for proposal packages for engineered equipment;
- Evaluate commercial and technical bid tabs;
- Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment; and
- Support and contribute to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:

- 2-10 years is plant experience is preferred, in a refinery, gas plant or petrochemical environment with increasing levels of responsibility;
- General knowledge of NGL Extraction and Distillation/Fractionation;
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not required;
- Knowledgeable of the content on a PFD, P&IDs, and Cause and Effects Diagrams including how to review and mark changes;
- Ability to read and understand a Process Design Basis and how to apply it to execute Mechanical work;
- General understanding of various engineering drawings and industry best practices and standards;
- General knowledge on key ASME, API, PIP, etc. codes and standards utilized daily by a Mechanical Engineer;
- General knowledge of common ASTM standards for carbon steel, low temp carbon steel, and stainless steel pipe specifications and material properties;
- General knowledge with NACE Standards 0403, 0103, 0175, and 0472;
- Familiar with a gated system for capital project execution;
- General knowledge of piping system flexibility and piping supports;
- Ability to acquire and apply new technical skills, tools, and frameworks in response to evolving project requirements and emerging technologies;
- Works effectively with others to achieve shared goals and success for Pembina;
- Exhibits a willingness to learn and adapt, demonstrating vulnerability and openness to feedback; and
- Takes ownership for results and outcomes, and treats mistakes as learning opportunities.
The successful candidate should live within 60 miles of Channahon, IL.
Pay Transparency Requirement: The base salary range for this position is $76,500.00 USD to $149,000.00 USD. Actual total compensation may differ based on candidate's qualifications and location. For a list of benefits offered, please visit: Working in the USA
