Overview:
Pembina is actively hiring for a Journeyperson or an 3rd Year Apprentice currently working towards their Interprovincial trade designation as an Electrician. This position is an Operation and Maintenance Technician for the Alberta Ethane Gathering System (AEGS) operational area located out of Hanna, AB.
The position reports to the Operations Foreman for the system in the Transmission Pipelines Business Unit (TBU), part of Pembina’s Pipeline Division.
Pembina's Transmission Pipeline assets have developed through the strategic acquisition of key natural gas and specification ethane transportation infrastructure assets, positioned in some of the most prolific gas producing regions in western Canada and the United States.
This position is located in Hanna Alberta.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
• Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules.” To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
• Ensure all maintenance and operations duties are completed safely, in compliance with Pembina’s procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry’s best practices;
• Routine pipeline operations and maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repair of pump stations, block valves, electrical, and mechanical equipment;
• Locating and marking AEGS facilities per Pembina’s Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during excavation;
• Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with company procedures of excavation activities near pipeline facilities;
• Provide appropriate training and leadership to develop and mentor staff, and support succession planning initiatives of the business;
• Once qualified, participate in a weekly call out rotation responding to after-hour call outs due to equipment and/or operational problems; and
• Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years related work experience;
• Journeyperson Electrician or 3rd Year Electrical Apprentice preferred though other levels of apprentice will be considered;
• Variable Frequency Drive troubleshooting and maintenance experience preferred;
• PLC programming experience, together with a familiarity of a variety of instrumentation equipment preferred;
• Hands-on experience with MS office and SAP;
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work well in a team coupled with a proven track record of success of positively interfacing with Field, Engineering, and Technical Support personnel;
• Ability to perform and direct safe and efficient operations in a fast-paced environment;
• Results oriented with a flexible & adaptable approach to change;
• Good personable skills for interacting with stake holders in a professional manner; and
• Willingness to work overtime and potential overnight travel.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
The successful candidate must live within 50 km of Hanna, AB.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
