Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporations Hythe location is recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join the team. This position reports to the Operations Engineering Supervisor, in the Gas Services Business Unit, part of Pembina’s Facilities Division.
The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas and liquids processing fee-for-service solutions for customers in strategic locations across the Western Canadian Sedimentary and Williston Basins. We are the largest third-party gas processor serving the WCSB at 6.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) and 128,000bbl/d of condensate stabilization. Liquids processed and extracted from the facilities are transported by Pembina's Conventional Pipelines business unit with a portion of the volumes being further processed at Pembina's Redwater facilities. Positioning of GBU at the front of the value chain allows Pembina to offer full integration from well head to market.
As part of an engineering team, you will work directly with the operations and maintenance teams supporting both the Hythe and Steeprock Gas Plants. This role focuses on maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations through engineering management, project execution, and interdepartmental collaboration, while also driving performance improvements and fostering an inclusive workplace.
This role is based at the Hythe Gas Plant approximately 90 km northwest of Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Promote an organizational culture that ensures safe, compliant, and reliable operation of assets;
- Manage engineering activities relating to the operation and integrity of facilities, including regulatory functions but not limited to AER, ABSA, TSBC;
- Troubleshoot facility issues to minimize production impacts and to maintain product quality specifications;
- Monitor plant performance, work with operations and maintenance to identify opportunities that increase throughput and reduce costs;
- Evaluate facility optimization and GHG reduction opportunities;
- Coordinate and execute engineering projects under the Management of Change (MOC) process and Project Delivery & Governance Lifecycle framework (PDGL);
- Lead engineering design, estimating, project planning, scheduling, and equipment sourcing;
- Maintain interface between Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Projects, Finance and Accounting teams;
- Support planning and delivery of facility maintenance, regulatory and turnaround schedules;
- Participate in knowledge sharing discussions with operation engineering team;
- Maintain registration in good standing with APEGA & EGBC; and
- Promote an inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Registered professional Engineer in good standing with a University degree (Ideally Mechanical or Chemical);
- Minimum 5 years of experience in natural gas processing;
- Knowledge in ASME, CSA, and regulatory codes related to the operation of oil and gas facilities;
- Demonstrate behavior that exhibits flexibility to competing priorities and adaptive changes;
- Energetic, resilient, collaborative, and goal oriented;
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and applying sound engineering judgement to provide the operations team with recommendations;
- Possess advanced computer skills, analytical capabilities and the ability to problem solve;
- Excellent communication with a customer service focus demonstrating influence to ensure business requirements are met;
- Previous experience in supporting a processing facility is an asset; and
- Previous experience in engineering design is an asset.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You will also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Grande Prairie, AB.
