Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Steeprock facility is recruiting for a Gas Plant Operator to join the team. This position reports to the Day Foreman, Operations and supports operations at the Steeprock Gas Plant, which is part of Pembina’s PGI Asset Team.
The PGI Asset Team is accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Pembina’s gas gathering and processing assets. Pembina provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing, and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee‑for‑service basis under long‑term contracts.
As a Gas Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the daily operations of the plant and associated field sites, ensuring work is performed safely, reliably, and in alignment with Pembina’s operational standards and values.
This position works a rotational schedule. One week on, one week off, consisting of day and night shifts, and ideal for candidates living in Grande Prairie or Dawson Creek.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

- Start up, operate, and shut down unit operations within the gas plant, as well as the entire plant, with expertise;
- Review, understand, and fully utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work;
- Ensure all safety documentation is completed for personnel working in facilities under operational care, including Safe Work Permits and Field Level Task Assessments;
- Clearly document facility operations through logbook entries, daily production reports, and reliability reporting;
- Lead and participate in commissioning and start‑up activities;
- Work with Pembina management, engineering firms, and equipment vendors to develop and maintain procedures that enable safe and reliable plant operations;
- Identify and troubleshoot process upsets and take appropriate action to resolve issues;
- Call out maintenance for equipment repairs and ensure repair priorities are clearly communicated;
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and communicate them during operations meetings;
- Complete incident reporting as required;
- Maintain required safety tickets and coordinate applicable training;
- Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment;
- Work with a safety‑conscious attitude at all times; and
- Participate in and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Post‑secondary education related to the oil and gas industry is an asset;
- Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate;
- Previous related gas processing experience is required;
- Equipment experience would include natural gas compression, refrigeration, and at minimum shallow cut processing (de‑ethanizer), condensate stabilization, and produced water injection;
- Familiarity with all aspects of plant operations and established operating procedures;
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous training and professional development;
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills;
- Ability to multi‑task and maintain flexibility to accommodate the variable duties of the position;
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications; and
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing, as well as a Driver’s Abstract.
Pay Transparency Requirement: The base salary range for this position is $90,000 CAD to $130,000 CAD. Actual total compensation may differ based on candidate's qualifications and location.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
