Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Grande Prairie Office is recruiting for an Analyst, Operations Engineering to join the team.   This position reports to the Manager, Operations Engineering in the Gas Services Business Unit (GBU). 

The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas and liquids processing fee-for-service solutions for customers in strategic locations across the Western Canadian Sedimentary and Williston Basins. We are the largest third-party gas processor serving the WCSB at 6.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) and 128,000bbl/d of condensate stabilization. Liquids processed and extracted from the facilities are transported by Pembina's Conventional Pipelines business unit with a portion of the volumes being further processed at Pembina's Redwater facilities. Positioning of GBU at the front of the value chain allows Pembina to offer full integration from well head to market.

The Operations Engineering Analyst will support the project cost control and scheduling functions for the capital investment projects within GBU. 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
  • Collect cost and other data from various sources for consolidated cost reports; expedite and problem solve if cost data is not available in time;
  • Assist project management in the coordination of project information (costs, resource, risk, etc.) to the project teams and other stakeholders and communicate performance metrics for all projects to various stakeholders through applicable platforms;
  • Provide consistent support to the Project Managers in the areas of cost control, planning, forecasting, progress measurement, monthly status reporting, contingency management and change management;
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources on procurement cost tracking including estimated costs, purchase order awards, progress payments, committed and estimate values;
  • Ensure that the cost estimates and forecasts align with project schedules and reconcile and report discrepancies to the Project Managers;
  • Assist Project Managers in identifying cost overruns by performing variance analysis and implementing proper change management procedures to ensure the scope of the project is maintained under control;
  • Support Project Managers in the implementation of approved project work breakdown structures;
  • Support Project Managers in AFE generation and assist in monitoring that all projects are within authorized AFE project funding;
  • Assist Project Managers in the issuing of purchase requisitions and purchase orders;
  • Work with Supply Chain to build Project Procurement Plans;
  • Support Project Managers in reviewing invoices and arranging funds to facilitate payments;
  • Compile trending data for the development of annual capital budget and provide other supporting documentation for budget analysis, evaluation, and monitoring; and 
  • Provide capital reporting support, including monthly scorecard preparation.

Qualifications:

  • The preferred candidate will have completed a post-secondary degree in either Engineering, Economics, Project Management, Cost Engineering, or Business Administration and combination of relevant education and experience will be considered;
  • Relevant project controls experience within a capital project team environment is an asset;
  • Proficient in the technical aspects of project cost management, including WBS creation/maintenance, cost and schedule baseline development, cash flow forecast, change management, performance trend graphics and analysis, cost variance analysis and project cost reporting and superior analytical and computer skills, particularly with MS Excel;
  • Technical understanding and familiarity with all phases of brown-field and green-field facility projects will be considered an asset;
  • Proficiency in the use of SAP modules: Finance, Controlling, Joint Venture, and Materials Management will be considered an asset;
  • Experience and proven proficiency with the scheduling function (MS Project or Primavera) will be considered an asset; 
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel; 
  • Experience in quick and accurate data manipulation from various data sources to produce the required reporting formats; and 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional areas.
