Overview:

Our Gas Services Business Unit (GBU), is looking for an Engineer, Operations to support the following Pembina Gas Infrastructure (PGI) assets:

  • 380 mmcfd Patterson Creek Gas Plant
  • 02-23-68-03 W6M Battery
  • 05-35-64-02 W6M Battery
  • 11-02-68-03 W6M Battery
  • 11-05-69-02 W6M Battery


The Operations Engineer reports to the Supervisor, Operations Engineering. The Engineer will be part of an engineering team and will work directly with the operations and maintenance teams. 


The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts.


Based out of the Grande Prairie Office, the responsibilities will include and not be limited to:

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Manage engineering activities relating to the operation and integrity of facilities, including but not limited to regulatory functions such as those involving AER and ABSA;
  • Troubleshoot facility issues to minimize impacts on production and to maintain product quality specifications;
  • Monitor plant performance and work with operations and maintenance to identify opportunities that increase throughput and reduce costs;
  • Evaluate facility optimization and GHG reduction opportunities;
  • Coordinate and execute projects under the Management of Change (MOC) process and Project Delivery & Governance Lifecycle framework (PDGL);
  • Lead engineering design, estimating, project planning, scheduling, and equipment sourcing; 
  • Maintain interface between Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Projects, Finance, and Accounting teams;
  • Support planning and delivery of facility maintenance, regulatory, and turnaround schedules;
  • Plan engineering capital and operating budgets for the facilities;
  • Participate in knowledge sharing discussions with operation engineering team;
  • Maintain registration in good standing with APEGA;
  • Support operations engineers for other facilities within the same district as needed; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Registered professional engineer or engineer in training in good standing with a University degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering;
  • 5 + years of experience in the oil and gas industry but will consider Engineers In Training (E.I.T);
  • Knowledge in ASME, CSA, and regulatory codes related to the operation of oil and gas facilities;
  • Demonstrate behavior that exhibits flexibility in managing competing priorities and adaptability to changes;
  • Energetic, resilient, collaborative, and goal oriented;
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and applying sound engineering judgement to provide the operations team with recommendations;
  • Possess advanced computer skills, analytical capabilities, and the ability to problem solve;
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer service focus, demonstrating the ability to influence to ensure business requirements are met;
  • Previous experience in supporting a processing facility is an asset; and
  • Previous experience in engineering design is an asset.

 

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract. 

 

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Grande Prairie, AB.
