Overview:
Pembina Pipelines is looking for an Engineering Summer Student to work in Grande Prairie, Alberta with our Conventional Pipelines Business Unit. The summer term runs from May 6 to August 29, 2025.
Pembina's conventional pipeline assets comprise a strategically located network of pipelines and related infrastructure including various hubs and terminals. This network transports crude oil, condensate and NGL across much of Alberta and parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan and North Dakota.
To be considered for the Summer Student Engineer position, applicants must be:
Attending a post-secondary institution in the Fall of 2025;
Be at least 18 years old;
Must be available to work the entire term (May 6 to August 29); and
Preference will be given to student who have completed the 1st year of a four-year accredited Engineering program in the disciplines of Mechanical or Chemical.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
The primary responsibility of these positions will be to complete an audit review of the current preventative maintenance items by asset level within the Deep Basin area. This work will rely on the following:
- Become familiar with P&ID and site drawings.
- Navigate SAP the preventative maintenance system.
- Review asset data and compare sites for inconsistencies and gaps.
- Research various asset types for preventative maintenance information.
- Complete report on applicable findings
- Assist in the reporting of key team performance indicators.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders at the facilities, project teams and others within the organization to execute assignments.
- Focus on deliverables related to priorities and time-sensitive deadlines; and
- Commitment to continuously act in a safe, environmental and socially conscientious manner.
Qualifications:
- Completion of 1st year of a four-year accredited Engineering program in the disciplines of Mechanical or Chemical;
- Possess working knowledge of engineering principles particularly around liquid facilities and be knowledgeable in applicable rules and regulations governing the industry;
- Demonstrate understanding of basic principles related to engineering and operation of liquid pipelines facilities and pipelines;
- Strong computer skills and literacy in word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software including MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and Visio;
- Previous experience working in an engineering environment would be considered an asset;
- Have the capacity to learn and succeed in a fast pace working environment;
- Ability and willingness to travel within Alberta and British Columbia
- Exemplifies traits conducive to organizational growth and success such as team building, persistence and dedication to quality work, and the ability to learn and develop daily;
- Must possess good communication and problem-solving skills, ability to articulate ideas, be detail oriented, and be comfortable dealing with associates at all levels within the organization;
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in the absence of a supervisor; and
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain strong working relationships.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
