Overview:


Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Fort Saskatchewan office is recruiting for a Gas Plant Operator to join the team.  This position reports to the Day Foreman in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembina’s Facilities Division. The position would be located at the Heartland Offgas Plant (HOP).

NBU is involved in the Fractionation, Terminaling & Storage, and Logistics and Distribution of specification natural gas liquids throughout north America. Natural Gas Liquids are components of natural gas classified by weight and number of carbon atoms – Methane (C1), Ethane (C2), Propane (C3) Butane (C4) and Condensate (mixture of C5+). Fractionation involves separating the different products in an NGL mix out into Ethane, Propane and Butane.
 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

 

  • Day to day, safe, efficient and reliable operations of the gas processing and pipeline distribution systems;
  • Start-up, operate and shutdown unit operations within the gas plant as well as the entire plant with expertise;
  • Review, understand and fully utilize Pembina’s safety and operational procedures and standards in performing all facets of work;
  • Ensure safety documentation is completed for all personnel working in the facilities under operational care. This includes Safe Work Permits and Field Level Hazard Assessments;
  • Ability to safely complete LOTO of equipment in accordance with corporate LOTO standards;
  • Clearly document facilities operations in logbook reporting, daily production reports and reliability reporting;
  • Work independently under minimal supervision on a 12-hour rotating operational shift schedule with overtime and on-call requirements;
  • Identify and troubleshoot process upsets, take proportional action to resolve issues;
  • Incident reporting;
  • Keep safety tickets up to date and coordinate required training;
  • Work with a safety conscious attitude;
  • Drive company vehicle for Operations and ERP requirements;

Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years’ experience in gas plant operations or related industry work. Post-secondary education in the oil & gas industry is an asset; 
  • Minimum valid ABSA 4th Class Power Engineering Certification; 
  • Gas Processing Operations certificate is considered an asset; 
  • Equipment experience with natural gas compression, dehydration, refrigeration, de-methanizer, de-ethanizer and hydrogen extraction;
  • Proficient with Process Control Systems (DCS, PLC); 
  • Familiar with all aspects of operations and established procedures; 
  • Continual dedication to on-going training and development; 
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills; 
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain a flexible attitude to accommodate the variable duties of the position; 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications and SAP; and 
  • Valid driver’s license required, plus provision of driver’s abstract for preceding 3 years of driving experience.


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract; and 

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Fort Saskatchewan.

 

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
