Overview:
Join our team in Fort McMurray! Pembina Oilsands Business Unit (OBU) part of the Pipelines Division is recruiting for an Operations, Technician for the Fort McMurray Oilsands area. Reporting to the Day Foreman Operations with associated various duties.
Pembina is one of Canada's largest oil sands and heavy oil pipeline operators and the business unit operates one of the largest merchant terminal businesses in western Canada. These combined assets allow us to provide long-term, dedicated transportation services to our customers.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
- Equipment and equipment system inspections and routine maintenance of facility equipment;
- Input of work orders, isolation, lockout and safe work permit for the facilitation of maintenance activities using the maintenance management system;
- Locally operate pumps, valves, pipeline pigging systems and other facility equipment;
- Assist on new projects and commissioning activities;
- Assist and respond to Alberta one calls in the FMM area;
- Assist and plan local tool runs;
- Actively participate in all related Health & Safety programs;
- Perform product quality and measurement related tasks such as Product sampling and meter proving;
- To assist Operations Foreman to ensure operation KPIs and goals are met;
- Monitor contractor performance and perform site audits;
- Participate in a call out rotation responding to after hour call outs due to equipment and/or operational problems; and
- Support Pembina’s goals, objectives along with participating an Inclusive and Diverse workplace.
Qualifications:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent;
- Availability to work overtime as required;
- 5+ years’ of energy industry experience in an operating or maintenance capacity;
- Good mathematical and analytical abilities;
- Electrical, Instrumentation, or mechanical experience would be considered an asset;
- Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs;
- SAP Plant Maintenance software knowledge and use is an asset;
- Contributing and collaborative team member;
- Able to perform in a physically demanding environment;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license;
- Safety Courses: TDG, H2S Alive, First Aid, ICS 100/200 would be an asset, but if incomplete, will be provided by company to the successful candidate;
- An excellent safe work record; and
- Results oriented with a flexible & adaptable approach to change.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
The successful candidate must work out of the Fort McMurray office on an 8 and 6 shift.
