Overview:
Pembina Pipeline’s Oil Sands and Heavy Oil Business Unit (OBU), part of the Pipelines Division, is actively hiring for an Electrical/Power Systems Technician to join our team. This Technician will report to the Supervisor, Terminal District for Canadian Diluent Hub and Edmonton North Terminal. The Oil Sands and Heavy Oil Business Unit is one of Canada's largest oil sands and heavy oil pipeline and terminal operators, providing long-term, dedicated transportation services to our customers.
The Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of project related duties, focused on providing operational inputs to a wide range of projects. This individual will utilize technical and business acumen to initiate, support and contribute to strategic decision making, as it relates to the safe, reliable, and cost effectiveness of operational activities.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

- Safely maintain electrical equipment;
- Thorough understanding of Single Line Diagrams for the effective isolation and lock out of equipment;
- Supervise contractors as required with a focus in the Medium Voltage space;
- Complete preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all maintenance is completed to predetermined schedules;
- General Site and Facility upkeep and maintenance;
- Complete field inspections to ensure reliable dependable and efficient operations;
- Recommend improvements to Facility efficiency and optimization and follow through to completion utilizing assistance from Operations Engineering and being compliant with our MOC (Management of Change) process;
- Create notifications, enter material requests attach required documentation, ensuring complete Work Orders within SAP;
- Complete assignments safely, efficiently and in an environmentally conscious manner by observing generally accepted company and industry safety practices;
- Assist in creating THA’s (Task Hazard Assessment) when required;
- Ensure duties are completed in accordance with Pembina’s procedures, regulatory requirements and industry best practice;
- Participate in an On Call rotation responding to after hour call outs due to equipment and/or operational problems; and
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Provincial Journeyman Red Seal Certification in Electrical with a minimum of five progressive years of pipeline or terminal operating experience with competency working on Medium Voltage; Or Journeyman Power Systems Electrical Certification; Or Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma;
- Experience with Siemens Medium Voltage VFD’s, protective relays, and SAP Maintenance Management is highly desirable and considered an asset;
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and other business-related computer programs and applications;
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
- Complete Safety Courses: TDG, H2S Alive, First Aid would be an asset and will be provided as needed;
- Collaborative nature, with strong capabilities contributing to teams with proven success of positive interfacing with Field, Engineering, and Technical Support personnel;
- Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment; and
- Continuously adapt to emerging technologies and evolving technical requirements by actively acquiring new skills, applying innovative solutions, and integrating feedback into daily problem-solving.
This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.
