Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Corunna facility is recruiting for an Operations Technician to join the team.  This position is a unionized role, and reports to the Operations Foreman in the Midwest NGL District, part of Pembina’s Natural Gas Business Unit (NBU).

NBU is involved in the Fractionation, Terminalling & Storage, and Logistics and Distribution of specification natural gas liquids throughout north America. Natural Gas Liquids are components of natural gas classified by weight and number of carbon atoms – Methane (C1), Ethane (C2), Propane (C3) Butane (C4) and Condensate (mixture of C5+). The Corunna facility stores NGL liquids in salt caverns and transports them using rail, truck and pipeline.

The Corunna facility is a hub for storage and distribution of NGL liquids (propane, butane, ethane) in the eastern market, sending products across North America. The facility is connected to multiple industry companies in the Sarnia area.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Operate the facility in a safe, efficient, compliant and reliable manner inside the operating envelope by following operating procedures and manuals at all times;
  • Maintain close surveillance of all operating conditions to maximize production, process reliability and efficiency;
  • Take immediate and decisive actions in emergencies, plant shutdowns, equipment failures, and plant process deviations;
  • Work effectively in a team environment in starting up and/or shutting down various pieces of equipment in the process area;
  • Assist with facility optimization, monitoring and maintenance;
  • Operate, troubleshoot and increase understanding of multiple facility systems, including cavern storage, pipelines, rail and truck loading as well as pumps, driers and utility equipment;
  • Understand daily work schedule, issue permits and review/complete hazard assessments for site work. Ensure all site work is appropriately risk assessed and properly documented;
  • Exhibit strong safety behaviours on a daily basis. Carry responsibility of stopping any unsafe work onsite;

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of operational experience; 
  • Operational training and or experience and degree or Power Engineer certificate preferred; 
  • Computer and DCS proficiency and excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and economic thinking skills are strong assets for this position;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills that are aligned with Pembina’s core values; and 
  • Valid Driver’s License. 


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” and so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing which includes testing for marijuana metabolites.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract. 

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Corunna, Ontario.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
