Pembina U.S. Corporation is recruiting for a Project Engineer to be based at the Aux Sable NGL Extraction and Fractionation Facility located in Morris (Channahon), Illinois. In the U.S., Aux Sable is jointly owned by Enbridge, Pembina and Williams Partners. Aux Sable facilities are operated by Pembina.  This position reports to the Supervisor, Project Engineering in the Natural Gas Liquids business unit (NBU) part of Pembina’s Facilities division.  The Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit is involved in the fractionation, storage and distribution of our specification products throughout North America.


The primary responsibility of this position is the execution of capital and expense projects at the Aux Sable facilities in Channahon, IL and Palermo, ND.  The Senior Project Engineer will be assigned multiple projects to see through from conception to turnover. This position has oversight responsibilities for engineering consultants and contractors. The position regularly executes projects from $1MM-$3MM, but can flex up to lead larger projects in the $3MM-$25MM range. 


Summary of Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Manage multiple projects ranging in complexity; 
  • Lead Project development studies;
  • Manage project deliverables through a stage gate process; 
  • Drive and oversee detail engineering and coordinate design reviews;
  • Manage technical through the MOC process; 
  • Manage material procurement; 
  • Prepare monthly project reports;
  • Prepare simple schedule and oversee more detailed project schedules;
  • Monitor vendor surveillance and construction progress; coordinate and respond to RFI’s; and
  • This position may require up to 25% travel.



  • 5 to 15 years of project management experience supporting refinery, gas plant or petrochemical environments with increasing levels of responsibility;
  • Proven expertise in writing and executing project management plans including cost estimate, cost control, scheduling, acceptance, turnover, commissioning and startup;
  • Knowledge base of maintenance, process, operations, purchasing, warehouse, safety, environmental and project engineering skills;
  • Industry specific project management experience on $3-25MM capital projects;
  • Extensive people management skills are required;
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited university is required;
  • Valid Driver’s license required; and
  • Demonstrated character and understanding of occupational and process safety.


This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.
