Overview:

Pembina’s Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary Office is actively hiring for an experienced and strategic Manager, Total Rewards to lead the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive total rewards programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. 

 

This position reports to the Director of Human Resources in the Human Resources Service Unit (HSU), part of the Corporate Services Division. The Human Services Unit (HSU) acts to create a differentiated experience for our employees so that we can deliver extraordinary energy solutions so the world can thrive. Functional areas within HSU include Human Resources Strategic Partnering and Talent Acquisition, Leadership, Talent and Learning, and Human Resources Operations and Total Rewards. 

 

The Manager, Total Rewards oversees all aspects of compensation, benefits, pension plans, long-term incentives, executive compensation, and labour relations, while driving innovation through the use of technology and data-driven insights. This leader will bring expertise on total rewards practices across Canada and the United States and have experience with global mobility programs. As a strong leader, you will collaborate across all levels of the organization to align rewards strategies with business priorities, employee needs, and market trends.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

Total Rewards Strategy:

  • Develop and execute progressive total rewards strategies encompassing compensation, benefits, pension plans, and incentives tailored to align with the organization's objectives;
  • Maintain compliance with regional labour laws and regulations in Canada and the US, ensuring fairness, equity, and market competitiveness;
    Provide oversight and strategy for global mobility programs, ensuring seamless employee transitions across geographies;

 

Compensation:

  • Oversee the design and administration of base salaries, bonus programs, and executive compensation plans for both Canadian and US employees;
  • Conduct regular market analyses and benchmarking specific to the Canadian and US labour markets, ensuring compensation structures remain competitive and aligned with regional and industry standards;

 

Pension & Benefits Programs:

  • Manage the strategy, supporting design, communication, and administration of Canadian and US pension plans and employee benefits programs;
  • Collaborate with HR stakeholders, consultants and vendors to optimize benefits programs that meet the needs of a diverse workforce across multiple geographies;

 

Long-Term Incentives:

  • Develop and implement long-term incentive plans, ensuring alignment with long-term strategic goals;
  • Oversee the structure and administration of incentive plans, including compliance with legal and tax considerations in multiple countries;

 

Executive Compensation:

  • Partner with executive leadership and other HR stakeholders in executive compensation design, considering both Canadian and US markets;
  • Ensure compliance with governance best practices in executive compensation matters;

 

Labour Relations:

  • Support collective bargaining processes by providing expertise on total rewards strategies and ensuring consistent application across unionized and non-unionized workforces in Canada and the US;
  • Build strong relationships with labour representatives and foster collaborative problem-solving;

 

Global Mobility Expertise:

  • Partner with other HR leaders to build solutions that support the mobility of global talent, ensuring a consistent employee experience;

 

Technology & Innovation:

  • Leverage technology to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of total rewards programs, identifying tools and systems for compensation management, benefits administration, and workforce analytics;
  • Drive digital transformation in total rewards processes and reporting;

 

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Provide mentorship and leadership to HR teams, fostering a strong culture of teamwork, accountability, and high performance;
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and HR stakeholders to ensure total rewards strategies support organizational growth and employee engagement;
  • Monitor trends in compensation, benefits, and labour markets to ensure the organization remains competitive in Canada, the US, and globally; and

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; certification in Total Rewards, Compensation (e.g., CCP), or HR an asset;
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive human resources experience, with a focus on total rewards management, labour relations, and executive compensation;
    • Demonstrated experience managing total rewards programs in both Canada and the US, with a clear understanding of related labour legislation, tax compliance, and market trends;
  • Technical Acumen: Demonstrated ability to leverage HR technology platforms, compensation tools, and data analytics to drive decision-making;
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership capabilities with experience in managing teams, establishing clear goals, and driving collaborative results;
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to influence and engage with stakeholders across all levels;
  • Analytical Skills: Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to perform complex data analysis and present findings in an actionable format;
  • Knowledge Base: Familiarity with labour relations processes and collective bargaining agreements for both Canadian and US workforces; and
  • Learning Agility: Proven ability to demonstrate learning agility by rapidly adapting to changing business environments, embracing feedback, and continuously evolving leadership approaches to drive team and organizational success. 

 

Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays.
