Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation is currently recruiting for an Intern, GIS for a 12-month term starting May 12, 2025. Reporting to the Supervisor, GIS, the successful candidate will be an integral part of the Operations Applications group within the Information Services Unit, part of Pembina's Corporate Services Division. Along with providing GIS support to the entire corporation, additional key roles of the GIS team are maintaining the corporate pipeline database and supporting the Asset Integrity group with mapping and data management.

 


Pembina's Information Services Unit manages and maintains the company's infrastructure, provides technical support, ensures data security and accessibility, implements new technology, strategies for future development, manages vendors, and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Create presentation quality maps to support business needs;
  • Conduct GIS processing and data integration into the PODS and Pipeline Integrity databases utilizing specialized vendor applications and/or manual methods;
  • Routinely interact with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure necessary information, drawings, and data sets are integrated with the GIS and PODS database;
  • Utilize historical data sources to conduct data investigation, extraction, and loading;
  • Perform quality assurance on previously loaded data: and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary Bachelors of GIS (course work completed);
  • Strong background in computer use and data entry/processing;
  • Understanding of various data formats;
  • High standard for quality control and attention to detail;
  • Familiarity with GIS concepts;
  • Strong organizational skills, self-starter, and good communicator in a team environment;
  • Previous experience with pipelines in the Oil and Gas industry considered a strong asset;
  • Working knowledge of GIS software (Esri ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro);
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel;
  • Database skills (Microsoft Access and/or SQL) an asset; and
  • Programming background (Excel macros utilizing VBA, Python) an asset.
     

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
