Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation is actively hiring Senior Analyst to join the Business Development & New Ventures (BDNV) team, reporting directly to the Manager of Portfolio Management & Analytics.


The Sr Analyst, BDNV will be an enthusiastic team member who possesses a deep understanding of financial concepts, strong business acumen, and demonstrates proficiency in financial modeling. The successful applicant will support the financial and economic assessment of BDNV projects through forecasting, research, and ad-hoc analytical support, including activities related to acquisitions and divestitures.


The BDNV team is responsible for deploying capital in support of Pembina’s growth initiatives and long-term profitability. The team works closely with Pembina's Commercial Services, Engineering, System Development, Corporate Development, Corporate Planning and Business Planning teams along with various other internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

    • Support BDNV through the life cycle of ideation, evaluation (quantitative and qualitative) and development of business opportunities;
    • Support coordinating projects through the early stages of ideation and evaluation following established Project Development and Governance Lifecycle frameworks;
    • Build and maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses, incorporating modeling best practices, established corporate economic standards and frameworks, valuation principles, financing structures, accounting and tax considerations;
    • Support and coordinate due diligence process for M&A activities, investments and partnerships;
    • Conduct data gathering and research to advance our understanding in new industry markets, businesses, products, technologies and other areas BDNV may investigate;
    • Create economic and business cases, support and prepare investment decision materials, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders;
    • Maintain an awareness of developing industry news, trends, peer activity, corporate risks and opportunities;
    • Develop strong and collaborative working relationships across industry and inside of Pembina;
    • Support BDNV’s strategies, budgeting, planning and portfolio management;
    • Perform financial look backs on business initiatives including project developments, pipeline/facility expansions, and acquisition & divestiture activity;
    • Analyze business and industry metrics, research key market drivers and customer activities, and perform ad hoc analysis as required;

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, engineering, economics or other analytical related discipline;
    • Master’s degree or an MBA or pursuing professional certification such as a CFA is considered a plus;
    • 5+ years of experience in similar and related positions;
    • Proven understanding of hydrocarbon value chain and related commercial parameters;
    • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, ability to efficiently collect, analyze, and present information and data, and highlight key insights to support recommendations and decisions;
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint and proven ability to develop financial models and provide economic analysis;
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work effectively across all levels of the organization;
    • Experience with carbon credit / energy infrastructure tax incentive programs beneficial but not required;
    • Ability to meet multiple objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-based environment; and

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
