Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Specialist, Solution Architecture, specializing in Applications to join our team. This position reports to the Director, Business Applications in the Information Services Unit (ISU), part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division.

As a Solutions Architect, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing technology systems that support the organization’s strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of a broad range of applications, business processes, information technology, and system architecture. They are strategic, and solution oriented with exceptional communication to all levels of the organization.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- System Design: Design scalable and sustainable system architectures that meet business needs while ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Solution Development: Develop and recommend innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall business performance.
- Technology Evaluation: Assess and recommend technologies and tools that align with business objectives and improve system functionality.
- Integration: Oversee the integration of new systems with existing infrastructure, ensuring seamless data flow and interoperability.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system architecture designs, data flow diagrams, and user guides.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IS, project management, and business units, to ensure successful project delivery.
- Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce best practices for system development and implementation, ensuring high-quality outputs.
- Training & Support: Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they are equipped to use new systems effectively.
- Continuous Improvement: Monitor system performance and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years progressive experience in enterprise applications implementations, systems architecture, custom development, middleware platforms, business analysis, or related roles on major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP);
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
- Adaptable and open to new ideas, technologies, and methodologies.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and creative thinking skills; and
- Ability to function within a fast-paced team environment.
- Experience in heavy industries (Oil & Gas – E&P/Midstream/Refining, Mining, or Utilities) is preferred;
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
