Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring a Senior Revenue Accountant to join the team. This position reports to the Supervisor, Accounting in the Transmission Pipeline Business Unit TBU, a part of Pembina’s Operations Financial Services team.

 

Pembina's transmission pipeline assets have developed through the strategic acquisition of key natural gas, ethane, and condensate transportation infrastructure assets, positioned in some of the most prolific gas producing regions in western Canada and the United States. Pembina's transmission pipelines provide customers with access to premium markets primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts through long-haul pipelines.

 

As a subject matter expert, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of transportation rates, revenues, and services while contributing to the success of the team.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

    • Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment;
    • Accounting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly revenue accruals and invoices in alignment with contractual terms, and complete other monthly and quarterly accounting tasks;
    • Reporting: Complete month-end and quarterly financial and regulatory reporting tasks to ensure seamless financial operations;
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with key members of the Business Unit, including Contracts, Logistics, Business Development, and Commercial Services, to drive alignment and efficiency. Address inquiries from Commercial Operations, Finance, Legal, and Regulatory teams regarding gas accounting operations, financial results, and special reporting requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses;
    • Analysis and Compliance: Complete variance analysis, account reconciliations and perform contract assessments in accordance with IFRS 15 and ASC 606 standards;
    • Customer Engagement: Communicate and collaborate with customers to address inquiries and resolve collection matters effectively;
    • Support Integration and Innovation: Contribute to process improvements, system implementations, and integration efforts within the TBU;
    • Development: Facilitate communications and deliver presentations to ensure the revenue accounting team remains informed about revenue accounting practices, including requirements for revenue recognition, billing, and reporting;
    • Internal Controls: Uphold and maintain internal control processes and documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy;
    • Special Projects: Take on special projects as needed, contributing to the continuous improvement and growth of the organization; and
    • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

    • The ideal candidate will be energetic, resilient and possess a positive, can-do attitude;
    • Professional accounting designation with 10+ years’ accounting experience within the oil and gas industry (pipeline or gas marketing experience would be considered a major asset);
    • Understanding of IFRS and U.S. GAAP revenue accounting requirements;
    • Federal, Provincial and US Federal regulatory accounting and reporting knowledge would be considered an asset;
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface positively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders;
    • Proven ability to improve processes - including develop, document, and implement processes and procedures;
    • Experience working on projects and ability to manage multiple competing demand under tight deadlines;
    • Experience with a large-scale, automated accounting system is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary;
    • Experience with integrated operational systems related to gas and energy accounting (experience with SAP is an asset);
    • Exposure to IFRS and U.S. GAAP revenue reporting regulations; and
    • Proven ability to demonstrate learning agility by rapidly adapting to changing business environments, embracing feedback, and continuously evolving leadership approaches to drive team and organizational success.
