Overview:
Where this is growth there is opportunity. Pembina Pipeline’s Engineering and Construction team is actively hiring a Senior Project Manager.
Reporting to the Manager, Process Facility Execution (E&C), the Senior Project Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of major energy infrastructure projects valued between $250 million and $1 billion. The role provides strategic leadership across all phases of project execution, leading integrated owner and contractor teams to safely deliver complex brownfield and greenfield facilities while maintaining rigorous oversight of technical, commercial, cost, schedule, risk, and stakeholder management activities.
As an experienced project execution leader, you have successfully led large-scale projects through the full project lifecycle—from FEED and detailed engineering to construction, commissioning, startup, and operations readiness. You bring deep expertise overseeing EPC lump-sum contract delivery, balancing strong owner governance with collaborative contractor engagement to achieve cost, schedule, safety, and performance objectives.
As part of Pembina’s Project Delivery & Technical Excellence business area, the Engineering & Construction team plays a critical role in advancing the company’s growth by developing and delivering safe, reliable, and efficient energy infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to lead meaningful projects, work alongside talented technical and operational professionals, and contribute to assets that create long-term value for our business, customers, and communities.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Lead the execution of major brownfield and greenfield facilities projects ranging from $200 million to $1 billion from FEED through commissioning, startup, and operational handover;
- Develop and execute project delivery strategies that maximize safety, schedule certainty, cost performance, operability, and long-term asset reliability;
- Lead projects executed under lump sum EPC contracts, providing strong owner governance while developing collaborative relationships that drive successful project outcomes.
- Manage the complete execution project lifecycle including:
- FEED and Project Development;
- Class 3 and Class 2 Estimate Development;
- Project Sanction / Final Investment Decision (FID);
- EPC Strategy and Contract Award;
- Detailed Engineering;
- Procurement;
- Fabrication;
- Construction;
- Mechanical Completion;
- Pre-Commissioning;
- Commissioning;
- Startup;
- Performance Testing; and
- Operational Readiness and Asset Handover.
Responsibilities Cont.
- Provide leadership to integrated owner and contractor teams including Project Engineers, Construction Managers, Commissioning Managers, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Operations, Technical Services, and EPC contractors;
- Direct EPC contractor performance through disciplined governance, commercial oversight, and proactive management of engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, safety, quality, and contract performance;
- Ensure engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities remain fully integrated through execution planning and system-based turnover;
- Collaborate with Technical Services, Asset Integrity, Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Safety, Environmental, Regulatory, Indigenous Relations, Land, and Commercial teams to ensure facilities meet business, technical, operational, and regulatory requirements;
- Lead project governance activities including Gate Reviews, executive approvals, assurance reviews, investment decisions, and Board-quality reporting;
- Own project cost, schedule, forecasting, contingency management, cash flow, and risk management while maintaining predictable project outcomes;
- Establish integrated execution schedules incorporating engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness milestones;
- Lead commercial management activities including contract interpretation, change management, claims avoidance and resolution, incentive management, and contractor performance reviews;
- Ensure projects are executed in accordance with corporate engineering standards, regulatory requirements, applicable industry codes (CSA, ASME, API), quality management systems, and owner specifications;
- Champion operational readiness by ensuring Operations personnel are engaged throughout project execution, including development of operating procedures, training, spare parts strategy, maintenance planning, and turnover documentation;
- Support construction through timely engineering decisions, review of contractor execution plans, management of RFIs, field design changes, technical queries, and resolution of complex execution issues;
- Foster a culture where safety is the highest priority, promoting visible safety leadership, proactive risk management, contractor engagement, and continuous improvement throughout project execution;
- Mentor and develop Project Managers and Project Engineers while promoting technical excellence and execution best practices across the Process Facilities Execution organization;
- Champion Pembina’s Zero by Choice safety culture and Life Saving Rules by embedding physical, psychological, and cyber safety into all work practices while taking personal accountability to maintain compliance, support audit readiness, proactively identify risks, and protect our people, assets, and data; and

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, technical training, and significant relevant industry experience;
- 15+ years of progressively responsible experience delivering major industrial or energy infrastructure projects;
- Demonstrated leadership of $250 million to $1 billion capital projects executed under Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) lump sum contracts;
- Proven experience delivering projects from FEED through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and operational handover;
- Significant construction and commissioning experience, coupled with increasing leadership accountability for the execution of large, complex industrial projects;
- Extensive experience directing integrated owner, EPC contractor, consultant, and vendor teams across all phases of project delivery;
- Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated experience in contract management, change management, contractor performance, claims avoidance, and risk management;
- Thorough understanding of project controls, cost forecasting, integrated scheduling, risk management, and project governance;
- Strong knowledge of industrial facility design, construction methods, mechanical completion, commissioning, startup, and asset turnover; and
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and execution performance.
