Overview:

Pembina Pipeline is actively hiring for Senior Analyst, NGL Commercial to join the team.  This position reports to the Manager, NGL Supply & Storage, part of Pembina’s Marketing Strategy Division.

The Senior Analyst is central to enabling commercial execution and optimization across the NGL value chain, bridging marketing, supply coordination, storage, and terminaling activities. The role delivers financial transparency and analytical insight, owns daily P&L reporting, and supports value-driven decision-making, while partnering closely with the commercial team to provide customer-level insights, support deal evaluation, and contribute to overall value chain optimization.


As a key contributor to the RightAngle (ETRM) implementation, it partners with the project team to enable reliable reporting and provides leaders with timely, value-driven insights, while working closely with the commercial team to support deal evaluation, deliver customer-level insights, and enhance overall value chain optimization.

Pembina’s Marketing Business Unit (MBU), part of the Marketing & Strategic Business Division, drives value through the strategic buying, selling, and optimization of natural gas, NGLs (ethane, propane, butane), condensate, and crude oil. Leveraging market intelligence and arbitrage opportunities across the value chain, the MBU enhances market access and pricing by contracting capacity on Pembina-owned and third-party pipelines and utilizing the Company’s rail fleet and logistics capabilities. The team also identifies and advances commercial opportunities that support the growth and optimization of Pembina’s broader asset portfolio and enhance value for both Pembina and Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) producers.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

P&L Ownership & Financial Stewardship

  • Maintain and deliver accurate, timely daily P&L reporting for the NGL commercial portfolio, including validation of exposures;
  • Provide clear attribution and variance analysis (price, volume, logistics, timing, etc.);
  • Partner with Accounting to support month-end close, including development of P&L bridge and reconciliation processes; and
  • Enhance transparency and consistency between daily trading P&L and financial reporting.


ETRM Implementation (RightAngle)

  • Act as a key commercial representative supporting the implementation of RightAngle;
  • Work closely with project, IT, and accounting teams to design and validate P&L outputs within the system;
  • Ensure alignment between system-generated P&L and commercial/analytical views of the business;
  • Support testing, data validation, and reconciliation processes to establish confidence in the system; and
  • Contribute to defining future-state processes and controls for P&L reporting and analytics.


Strategic Commercial Support

  • Partner with the NGL commercial team to support strategic decision-making across the portfolio;
  • Conduct customer-level analysis to assess profitability, contract performance, and value creation opportunities;
  • Evaluate deal flow economics, including margin analysis, risk considerations, and alignment with strategy; and
  • Provide insights to support structuring, negotiation, and optimization of commercial agreements.


Commercial & Analytical Support

  • Provide actionable insights to support optimization of marketing, supply, and logistics decisions;
  • Analyze margins across the value chain, including supply acquisition, transportation, storage, and terminaling; and
  • Identify opportunities to enhance value capture and improve decision-making through data-driven insights.


Supply Modeling & Optimization

  • Re-build, maintain, and continuously improve the RFS supply model;
  • Ensure alignment between supply inputs, logistics constraints, and commercial strategy; and
  • Support scenario analysis and forward-looking views to guide trading and marketing strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Commerce, or a quantitative discipline; CFA/MBA (completed or in progress) preferred;
  • 3+ years’ experience in energy trading analytics, market fundamentals, or commercial finance within the energy sector;
  • Proven experience owning and explaining daily P&L (NGL exposure preferred), with strong critical thinking in analyzing drivers and variances;
  • Strong understanding of cash vs. MTM attribution, accrual/timing impacts, and reconciliation to accounting, with ability to clearly articulate insights through concise written and verbal communication;
  • Solid knowledge of the NGL value chain, including physical flows, infrastructure, pricing, and midstream economics;
  • Advanced analytical capability, including building and maintaining complex dynamic models; proficiency in Excel, Python, SQL, or similar tools;
  • Experience with cloud analytics environments and RightAngle ETRM preferred;
  • Strong ability to assess and interpret short-term market drivers (e.g., weather, storage, outages, geopolitical events) and translate them into actionable insights;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to distill complex analysis into clear, decision-ready reporting for leadership;
  • Effective cross-functional collaborator, acting as a key interface between Commercial, Accounting, IT, and project stakeholders; and
  • Contribute to standardized reporting, scalable tools, and continuous improvement across analytics, processes, and data governance.
