Overview
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Senior Developer, Data & Analytics to join our growing Analytics practice.  This position reports to the Manager, Analytics in the Information Services Unit, ISU, part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division. 

 

Summary of Responsibilities
This position will participate in the technical leadership of the data platforms that support analytics, including reporting, AI, and ML. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to life-long learning; keeping current with innovations in data analysis and a passion for creating value with data.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Leading technical aspects of the SQL Server EDW environment; optimizing ETL, defining the patterns and processes required to operate a high-performance relational data platform;
  • Driving the transition to a streaming, distributed platform based on Azure and Databricks;
  • Mentoring team members on data warehousing and data analytics best practices;
  • Building monitoring and validation frameworks to maintain and ensure high data quality standards;
  • Scoping and evaluating data-centric solutions beyond analytics;
  • Profiling data sources and creating data models of various types – Kimball, star, Inmon and massively denormalized; 
  • Working with business teams to translate functional requirements into technical solutions;
  • Participating in after-hours support rotations; and
  • Contributing to an inclusive and diverse workforce.
     

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field;
  • 5+ years’ experience building, implementing, and maintaining a SQL Server data warehouse;
  • 5+ years’ experience coding in a team environment (C#, Java, Python);
  • 5+ years building ETL frameworks and pipelines;
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills;
  • Comfort working in an agile environment; 
  • Possesses the following desirable experience:
    • Building data pipelines with Kafka;
    • Processing data at scale with Apache Spark/Databricks;
    • Hands-on experience with Snowflake or Microsoft Synapse;
    • Building and training machine learning models;
    • Orchestration experience with Apache Airflow; and
    • Kubernetes & Docker.
