Overview:

Pembina's Pipeline Corporations Calgary office is currently recruiting for a Sr Accountant to join the team. This position will report to the Supervisor, Accounting in the Transmission Pipeline Business Unit (TBU) part of Pembina’s Operations Business Division. 

 

Pembina's transmission pipeline assets have developed through the strategic acquisition of key natural gas, ethane, and condensate transportation infrastructure assets, positioned in some of the most prolific gas producing regions in western Canada and the United States. Pembina's transmission pipelines provide customers with access to premium markets primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts through long-haul pipelines.

 

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for various tasks contributing to the success of the team and Transmission Unit. Key deliverables will include ensuring the transportation rates, revenues and services are accurately reflected in the monthly shipper invoices.  Variance reporting for revenue, quarterly account reconciliations, and supporting the Revenue team as required.  

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

Revenue Generation:


-    Produce, validate, and support the monthly revenue accruals; 
-    Ensure all revenue invoicing is compliant to the approved Canadian and US Tariff and General Terms and Conditions.  Ensure A/R related activities are completed;
-    Support integration of processes and system implementation as required within TBU;
-    Liaison with IT and internal stakeholders on interfaces, audit requirements, and any ad hoc requests;

Revenue Reporting:


-    Ensure revenue accounting treatment adheres to accounting requirements (Financial Reporting, Regulatory and Tax);
-    Prepare FERC and CER Regulatory reporting. Liaison and support for Financial Compliance for Regulatory Reporting of Revenue; and
-    Prepare Quarterly Account Reconciliations;
-    Participate in communications and presentations to keep Accounting knowledgeable about revenue accounting and the requirements towards revenue recognition, billing, and reporting;
-    Work collaboratively with Commercial Operations (Market Services, Commercial Services, and Logistics) to develop and enhance relevant Reporting and provide recommendations;
-    Maintain and update tools and reports to support the financial reporting of revenue in the financial statements; and
-    Responds to inquiries from the Commercial Operations, Finance, Legal and Regulatory regarding gas accounting operations, financial results, special reporting requests and the like. 
 

Qualifications:

•    The ideal candidate will be energetic, resilient and possess a positive, can-do attitude;
•    Professional accounting designation with 10+ years’ accounting experience within the oil and gas industry (pipeline or gas marketing experience would be considered a major asset);
•    Federal, Provincial and US Federal regulatory accounting and reporting knowledge would be considered an asset;
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface positively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders;
•    Demonstrated ability to improve processes - including develop, document, and implement processes and procedures;
•    Experience working on projects and ability to manage multiple competing demand under tight deadlines;
•    Experience with a large-scale, automated accounting system is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary; 
•    Experience with integrated operational systems related to gas and energy accounting (experience with SAP and/or QPTM an asset); and
•    Exposure to IFRS and U.S. GAAP revenue reporting regulations.
