Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporations Calgary office is recruiting for a Manager, Safety Execution, to join the team. This position reports to the Director of Occupational Health and Safety in the Safety Unit team, part of Pembina’s External Affairs Division.
The Manager, Safety Execution will lead a dynamic and geographically dispersed team of safety professionals to support the execution of Pembina’s safety program across our operations and projects. They will work collaboratively with Pembina Business Units and Service Units to develop, implement, execute and verify prevention and safety culture initiatives to further improve performance and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards enterprise wide. The Manager, Safety Execution will assist the safety leadership team to establish and execute long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies for the benefit of all four Pembina stakeholder groups (shareholders, employees, customers, and communities). The Manager, Safety Execution, is responsible for ensuring that occupational safety services provided to Pembina’s business are consistent, comprehensive and cost effective and that Pembina meets or exceeds all legal and relevant regulatory standards in these areas.
The External Affairs Service Unit brings together Land, Communications and Government Relations to provide essential services to projects and to ongoing Pembina business. In addition to this group effectively mobilizes project support, while ensuring proper governance and controls are in place.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

- Providing leadership, mentorship and career development to both operations and projects safety teams;
- Accountable for the consistent delivery of Pembina Safety Program which is a component of Pembina’s Operations Excellence Management System (OEMS);
- Implementation of Pembina’s contractor safety management processes in close partnership with contractor scope owners and the Supply Chain Management department;
- Ensuring effective incident management process is adhered to;
- Target the highest levels of operational reliability by ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of Pembina’s safety program;
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with corporate services, operational and project management;
- The Manager, Safety will ensure that each team within the Safety Group has a customer focused, medium and long-term strategy in place to support the business and operations of Pembina; and
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, science , or related field;
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) required;
- Minimum of 15 years of experience working in an occupational health and safety role;
- Knowledge of and experience working with energy-based safety considered an asset;
- 7+ years’ experience leading a diverse range of safety professionals and practitioners in multiple jurisdictions; supporting the professional growth and development of these team members;
- Demonstrated alignment to Pembina’s Values of Safety, Trustworthy, Collaboration, Respectful, and Entrepreneurship;
- In depth knowledge and understanding of safety hazards related to the midstream oil and gas industry;
- Understanding and familiarity with provincial, state and federal safety regulations in Canada and the US;
- Demonstrated collaboration skills and abilities within a multiple business unit and stakeholder environment;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences;
Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset; - Can think and act strategically to position Pembina’s Safety Program to support Pembina’s overall strategy; and
- Travelling to various work sites up to 25% will be required in Canada (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario) and the United States.
