Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring for a Safety Intern to join the team. This position reports to the Director, Process Safety in the Safety Service Unit, part of Pembina’s Project Delivery & Technical Excellence Division.
Promoting Pembina’s Safety Culture – Zero by Choice, the Safety Service Unit is dedicated to delivering quality products and services by leading the enterprise-wide occupational health and safety, process safety, physical security, and emergency management programs, and Operational Excellence Management System. The Safety team ensures compliance with all company, federal and local government health, safety, security and emergency management regulations and requirements ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our employees, contractors, and communities.
Please note that this is a 16-month Internship and the successful candidate must live within 100 km of Calgary
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Provide end to end Process Safety support by leading safety data analytics and KPIs, managing and participating in PHAs and MOCs, delivering process safety engineering support to operations, and driving continuous improvement of safety systems, standards, and digital workflows across the organization. This may also include participating in a project and presenting outcomes or learnings at the end of the term;
- Support day‑to‑day work and learning activities related to the team or function, using tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook), Copilot/ChatGPT, RPA, PowerBI, MS Power Platform etc.;
- Support Pembina’s safety culture of “Zero by Choice” by caring for yourself and others and following Pembina’s Life Saving Rules at all times;
- Demonstrate Pembina’s values by working in a manner that is Safe, Trustworthy, Respectful, Collaborative, and Entrepreneurial, recognizing that how results are achieved matters; and
Contribute to an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace by being gracious, kind, respectful, and working effectively with others.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program in Chemical or Mechanical engineering (3rd year completed by May 2026) and returning to school following the end of the work term;
- Field of study aligned with, or providing relevant transferable skills for, the role applied for;
- Able to travel to the field for multiple day trips;
- Ability to commit to the full duration of the term and required schedule; and
- Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn in a structured environment, aligned with Pembina’s values and safety expectations.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
This position is scheduled to be posted until end of day: 03/17/2026. In rare circumstances, a position may be posted for less time if there has been significant interest in the role.
