Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary’s office is actively hiring for a Pension & Savings Senior Advisor to join the team.  This position reports to the Supervisor, Specialized Services in the Total Rewards department, part of Pembina’s Legal, People, & Corporate Affairs division. 

 

As a Senior Advisor, Pension & Savings, this role oversees the administration and strategic development of Pembina’s pension and group savings plans. The position encompasses program communication, policy and plan design, governance and compliance, audit coordination, and collaborative support across legal, finance, and HR to ensure effective, compliant retirement programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan Administration: Oversee end-to-end administration of Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, 401k, and Group Savings plans, including enrolment, retirements, terminations, and maintenance of accurate retiree records across Canada and the US;
  • Program Communication & Education: Design and deliver educational resources and training initiatives that enhance employee understanding of retirement programs and communicate plan information effectively across all levels of the organization;
  • Policy & Plan Design: Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of pension plan philosophies, structures, and sustainability strategies, including risk monitoring for DB/DC and 401k plans;
  • Governance & Compliance: Coordinate and facilitate pension committee meetings, ensuring materials are current, regulatory requirements are met, and committee members remain informed of their governance and compliance responsibilities;
  • Audit & Reporting: Coordinate and participate in internal and external pension audits, while preparing and analyzing pension-related reports, including quarterly audit committee updates, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and timely delivery;
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Legal, Finance, HR, business advisory teams and external vendors to support pension-related activities, maintain accurate and up-to-date systems, and ensure efficient, compliant processes across the organization;
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, streamline processes, and improve the overall employee experience within pension and savings programs;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred;
  • 8+ years of progressive experience administering pension, retirement, 401k, and savings programs, preferably in a large or complex organization across Canada & the US;
  • Strong knowledge of US & Canadian pension legislation, regulatory requirements, governance practices, and retirement savings programs (e.g., Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, Group RRSP, TFSA, 401k);
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex pension concepts to diverse audiences across all levels of the organization;
  • Highly motivated and organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage competing deadlines, and achieve business objectives; and
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with employees, leaders, vendors, and external stakeholders.
