Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation is recruiting for a Manager, Strategic Business Partnering (Operations). Reporting to the Director, Strategic Business Partnering within the Human Resources Service Unit. This role leads strategic HR business partnering for the Pembina Operations and Project Delivery & Technical Execution portfolios, and manages a team of HR Business Partners and Labour Relations professionals.

 

The Manager translates business priorities into practical people strategies and ensures consistent, high-quality HR support across the portfolio in collaboration with other HR Strategic Business Partnering leaders, the role also drives a consistent, high-quality approach to service delivery across teams. Working closely with operational leaders and other HR teams, the role integrates workforce, talent, organization, culture, employee relations and change priorities into coordinated plans that support safe, reliable and sustainable business performance.

 

As a member of the HR Strategic Business Partnering leadership team, the Manager provides trusted counsel to senior leaders, leads and develops the portfolio partnering team, and strengthens the connection between business needs and enterprise HR programs, practices and services.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Act as an integrator across HR, connecting leaders with the right HR expertise at the right time.
  • Lead strategic HR business partnering team members, aligning people & culture priorities with business plans, operating requirements and Pembina’s broader strategy.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior and operational leaders, providing direct, practical and forward-looking advice on organizational, workforce, talent, culture and employee matters.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of HR Business Partners and Labour Relations professionals, setting clear priorities, strengthening capability and ensuring coordinated portfolio coverage.
  • Translate business needs into integrated people strategies and annual plans, partnering with HR Operations, Total Rewards, Leadership, Talent & Learning, and Talent Acquisition.
  • Ensure enterprise HR programs and practices are implemented consistently and effectively across the portfolio, and identify where business-specific solutions are required.
  • Advise leaders through organizational change, including stakeholder alignment, communications, implementation and sustainment.
  • Identify and implement workforce planning in key areas, leveraging workforce data, business insight and external trends to identify risks, opportunities and emerging capability needs, and translate findings into clear recommendations and action plans.
  • Represent the HR leadership team, and establish clear service expectations, standardization opportunities, portfolio priorities and ways of working, and continuously improve the client experience.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction, priorities and operating effectiveness of the HR Strategic Business Partnering function and the broader Human Resources Service Unit.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline; a professional HR designation is considered an asset.
  • Progressive human resources experience, including significant experience in a senior business-facing HR partnering role and demonstrated people leadership.
  • Broad knowledge of human resources practices, with strong capability in strategic partnering, organization design, workforce planning, talent management, change management and employee / labour relations. Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy and operational priorities into practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand complex operational environments, assess organizational implications and make sound recommendations.
  • Proven ability to build credibility, influence senior leaders and navigate sensitive or complex issues with judgment, discretion and confidence.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing HR professionals and building a collaborative, accountable team environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bring clarity to complex issues and drive decisions and action.
  • Analytical capability and experience using workforce data and insights to identify trends, assess risk and inform business decisions.
  • Experience in the energy industry is considered an asset.

 

Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays.
