Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary’s office is actively hiring for two positions a Sr Analyst Land & an Advisor, Land Negotiator to join the team. These positions report to the Supervisor, Land in the External Affairs team, part of Pembina’s Legal, People, and Corporate Affairs division. 

 

The External Affairs Service Unit brings together Land, Communications and Government Relations to provide essential services to projects and to ongoing Pembina business.  In addition to this group effectively mobilizes project support, while ensuring proper governance and controls are in place.

 

Senior Analyst, Land - supports land-related projects by coordinating agreements, maintaining accurate land records, and analyzing data to support acquisitions, divestitures, and asset management. They collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance and resolve land-related issues.

 

Advisor, Land Negotiator - is responsible for negotiating and securing land rights, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring regulatory compliance to support project execution. The role works closely with project teams to coordinate land activities and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of land acquisition activities, including negotiating and securing surface land rights on private and Crown lands, and delivering all required consultation, notification, and regulatory land deliverables;\
  • Serve as ESU Lead for assigned projects by coordinating and integrating land-related deliverables across all ESU functions, ensuring alignment, timely execution, and overall project success;
  • Analyze and interpret a wide range of surface land agreements and contracts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Manage external land brokers and consultants, including defining scopes of work, reviewing and validating cost estimates, monitoring performance and spend, and ensuring adherence to Pembina policies, procedures, and best practices;
  • Partner with Project Managers and project teams to proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate land-related risks, constraints, and issues throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Coordinate and manage land-related budgets, including cost estimating, tracking, forecasting, and reporting to support effective financial oversight of project deliverables;
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, external consultants, landowners, and other project stakeholders to support efficient land acquisition and project delivery;
  • Ensure effective collaboration within the Operations and Project Land teams, contributing to consistent practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and corporate policies related to surface land rights, access, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring compliance across all activities;
  • Provide support and guidance to Land Leadership on project execution, strategy, and issue resolution as required; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive Surface Land experience, including both Crown and Freehold land management;
  • Holds, or is eligible to obtain, an Alberta Land Agent Licence or a Petroleum Land Administration Certificate;
  • Advanced proficiency with key industry and regulatory systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, GIS Mapping Software, OneStop, Kermit, AbaData, Land Titles (applicable jurisdictions), ISC, and Alberta Crown systems (ETS);
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while consistently delivering high-quality, accurate results;
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to exercise sound business judgment and apply analytical and problem-solving expertise;
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, with a strong commitment to quality and service excellence; and
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to take initiative and align efforts with overall high-level business objectives.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. The final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
