Overview:

The role of the Technical Services Unit (TSU) is to provide technical expertise and consistency across all of Pembina’s Business Units which involves the development and governance of standards, specifications and procedures. TSU works in conjunction with other Service Units to support the business objectives and operational requirements of the Business Units.

 

Pembina’s Technical Services Unit (TSU) is currently seeking a Supervisor, Integrity Management. On behalf of Pembina’s Business Units, TSU manages a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes Facility Integrity, Pipeline Integrity, Geotechnical, Corrosion Control, Asset Management, Product Quality and Measurement, Geographical Information System, Integrity Project Execution, and Automation Services. TSU provides leading technical expertise that optimizes performance and minimizes operational and project risk. 

 

As a key contributing member of the Pipeline Integrity team, the Supervisor, Integrity Management will support pipeline operational changes ensuring fitness for service and compliance with local jurisdictions. 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
  • Ensuring integrity monitoring and mitigation programs comply with Pembina’s corporate IMP, regulatory requirements, and industry standards;
  • Understanding pipeline capacity and evaluating integrity impacts of customer service requests;
  • Identifying, evaluating, and implementing cost savings initiatives;
  • Maintaining and updating monthly KPIs and scorecards ensuring monthly targets are met;
  • Managing the preparation and completion of internal and external audits (e.g., integrity review meetings, pipeline review meetings);
  • Providing pipeline integrity program updates to Business Unit stakeholders as required;
  • Interface with regulatory bodies as required as part of audits, inspections, or consultations;
  • Supporting and developing monthly forecasts, annual expense, and capital budgets, and long-range integrity spend plans;
  • Managing the completion of integrity review meetings and pipeline-specific reviews as needed;
  • Reviewing and updating Pipeline Integrity documents as required;
  • As part of fitness-for-service assessments, ensure review of the following for compliance:
    • In-line inspection data analysis;
    • Technology selection;
    • Past digs performed;
    • Cathodic protection programs;
    • Internal corrosion programs; and
    • Geotechnical and hydrotechnical hazards management.
  • Supporting pipeline incident response and investigations as needed;
  • Performing integrity management of non-piggable pipelines;
  • Supporting acquisitions and divestitures as required;
  • Ensuring the completion and review of third-party crossing requests to determine impact of pipeline integrity and provide guidance;
  • Summarizing pipeline integrity findings and preparing reports for Management;
  • Ensuring risk assessment results are incorporated in pipeline integrity management decisions;
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders including operations, commercial, pipeline integrity project management, hydraulics, regulatory, environment, supply chain, engineering and others;
  • Completing annual reviews and updates of system specific integrity management program (IMP) documents;
  • Evaluating team performance and determining training needs to meet performance objectives;
  • Providing technical support, mentoring and direction to the pipeline integrity team;
  • Model and promote learning agility by adapting quickly to change, encouraging experimentation, and continuously integrating new insights into team strategies and practices; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Professional engineering designation (preferred) or relevant technologist certification;
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience involving pipeline integrity;
  • Proven experience leading pipeline integrity or technical teams;
  • Strong technical understanding and experience in pipeline integrity threat assessment and management, risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation strategies;
  • Demonstrated managerial skills including team vision, direction, resource management, succession planning, etc;
  • Demonstrated experience with in-line inspection analysis using MFL, Geometry, IMU, and ultrasonic technologies;
  • Experience in pipeline design, operations, and maintenance;
  • Solid understanding of pipeline defect assessment, evaluation, and repair;
  • In depth working knowledge of industry best practices, codes, standards and regulations in Canada and USA;
  • Exceptional influencing and communication skills, customer service focused and assertiveness to ensure business requirements are met;
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, self-motivated team player;
  • Demonstrate critical analytical and strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proven ability to demonstrate learning agility by rapidly adapting to changing business environments, embracing feedback, and continuously evolving leadership approaches to drive team and organizational success;
  • Willing to travel throughout Pembina’s pipeline asset locations (approximately 10%); and
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license.

Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Fridays.
