Pembina’s Technical Services Unit (TSU) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead the Integrity Assessments Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and integrity of our pipelines through comprehensive management, assessment, and proactive response to potential integrity concerns.

On behalf of Pembina’s Business Units (BUs), TSU manages a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes facility integrity, pipeline integrity, geotechnical, corrosion, and damage prevention.  

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Promote and support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit;
  • Strong customer focus, with a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with business unit partners. Understanding business drivers is crucial. While technical skills are important, we are looking for a candidate who excels in interpersonal communication and collaboration;
  • Lead a team of professionals in charge of ensuring pipelines are safe and reliable. This is achieved through in-depth analysis of ILI data from technologies including but not limited to MFL, GEO, IMU, Axial and Circumferential UT, and EMAT;
  • Ensures the team generates dig plans timely to optimize execution timelines driven by optimal construction season and/or regulatory requirements;
  • Ensures consistent execution of both probabilistic and deterministic analyses for metal loss and cracks as well as detailed analysis of threat interactions to pipeline fitness for service;
  • Manages the completion of all in-house and third-party engineering assessments required as part of the process of ILI data analysis and dig issuing;
  • Ensures pipeline integrity database is up to date and information is readily available for quick decision-making and budget processing;
  • Oversee the dig deferral and cancellation processes, provide support for dig execution kick-off meetings, and manage communications related to dig calls; 
  • Ensures all ILI frequencies are properly set based on the evaluation of ILI results and dig reports;
  • Implements risk reduction measures as required based on the pipeline risk assessment results;
  • Keeps unity plots up to date using ILI reports and digs Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) results. Prepares performance assessments for ILI vendors using unity plots; 
  • Issue priority notifications for immediate pipeline integrity features discovered during ILIs; 
  • Interacts with other stakeholders including hydraulics, business units, project management, execution, damage prevention as required based on day-to-day project activities; and
  • Participate and support and equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace.


  • Professional engineering designation (preferred) or relevant technologist certification; 
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience involving pipeline integrity;
  • Experience leading pipeline integrity or technical teams;
  • Strong technical understanding and experience in pipeline integrity threat assessment and management, risk assessment, monitoring and mitigation strategies;
  • Demonstrated managerial skills including team vision, direction, resource management, succession planning, etc.; 
  • Demonstrated experience with in-line inspection analysis using MFL, Geometry, IMU, and ultrasonic technologies;
  • Experience in pipeline design, operations, and maintenance; 
  • Solid understanding of pipeline defect assessment, evaluation, and repair;
  • In-depth working knowledge of industry best practices, codes, standards and regulations in Canada and USA;
  • Exceptional influencing and communication skills, customer service focus and assertiveness to ensure business requirements are met;
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, self-motivated team player; 
  • Demonstrate critical analytical and strong written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Willing to travel throughout Pembina’s pipeline asset locations (approximately 10%); and Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license
