Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Hydraulics Engineer to join the team.  This position reports to the Manager, Hydraulics and Development in the Operations Services team part of Pembina’s Operations Business Division.
The Hydraulics Team plays a pivotal role in boosting Pembina’s process safety measures and optimizing the flow of commodities across our expansive network of facilities. Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

 

  • Provide comprehensive hydraulics support including transient simulations across all business units. 
  • Simulate and document scenarios using existing processes to aid control room operations.     
  • Effectively communicate complex concepts to stakeholders from various functional areas.   
  • Collaborate in a team-oriented environment to achieve shared goals.     
  • Contribute to rapid innovation iterations and hypothesis testing.
  • Support the successful execution of company-wide productivity and efficiency initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform data analysis and monitor pipeline system performance to support and optimize commercial outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and functional models following established processes.
  • Uphold Pembina’s safety culture and incorporate safety processes into all work-related activities. 
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

 

Key Customers

  • Customer Service and Logistics: Maintain regular engagement to support short-term drivers.
  • Control Room Support: Frequent engagement to maintain optimal operation and strict compliance with environmental and safety regulations. 
  • Facility Integrity: Ensure that our work processes support the long-term durability and reliability of our infrastructure.
  • Engineering Projects: Collaborate to evaluate and implement new projects.
  • Operations: Support MOC requests and assist with troubleshooting.
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably with a focus on Chemical or Mechanical disciplines.
  • Strong relationships and engagement skills to effectively work with senior staff and key customers across multiple departments.
  • Hands-on experience in hydraulics or process simulations.
  • Energetic, resilient, collaborative and goal oriented.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present, influence and collaborate at all levels, using plain language.
  • Good interpretation, qualitative and quantitative analysis skills with an ability to simplify and concisely convey messages.
  • Shows a strong work ethic and a positive, proactive attitude, willing to take on any task regardless of its level.
  • Ability to perform in ambiguous situations - flexible, adaptable, learns quickly and demonstrates courage and perseverance.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
