Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring for Specialist, Fundamentals to join the team. This position reports to the Director, Trading & Fundamentals in the Marketing Unit, part of Pembina’s Marketing Strategy Division.
The successful candidate will lead the development of medium and long-term market models that support strategic decision-making across Pembina’s business units. This role will drive automation, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver consistent, forward-looking market perspectives.
Pembina undertakes value-added commodity marketing activities including buying and selling products (natural gas, ethane, propane, butane, condensate and crude oil) and capitalizing on arbitrage opportunities. By contracting capacity on Pembina's and various third-party pipelines and utilizing the Company's rail fleet and rail logistics capabilities, the Marketing business is able to add incremental value to commodities for Pembina and the WCSB. Marketing activities also include identifying commercial opportunities to further develop other Pembina assets.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Business Strategy/Fundamental Analysis
- Develop and maintain medium/long-term supply/demand and pricing models across natural gas, NGLs, and crude;
- Develop forecasting models, scenario analysis, and market outlook tools;
- Monitor and interpret third-party data sources and integrate with Pembina’s proprietary insights;
- Automate reporting and develop scalable tools to disseminate information across the organization;
- Develop and maintain Pembina’s House View across all commodities and regions;
- Analyze infrastructure developments, producer behavior, regulatory trends, and regional supply/demand shifts;
- Provide market analysis and scenario planning for mid-cycle financial forecasts and strategic planning processes;
- Support the annual strategy planning cycle, including Board materials, Offsite sessions, and Long-Range Plan inputs;
- Collaborate with Business Development, Corporate Development, and Gas/NGL & Crude teams to support evaluation of greenfield, brownfield, and M&A opportunities;
- Engage with internal stakeholders to align market views with commercial and strategic priorities;
- Support ad hoc analysis requests stakeholders across Pembina;
- Prepare and present material to enhance the market fundamentals business acumen across the organization;

Qualifications:
Education:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Economics, Business Administration or Commerce, or another quantitative discipline. Possess or working towards advanced education (CFA, MBA) is preferred., is required.
Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in market fundamentals, energy analytics, strategy, or a related commercial role within the energy sector; and
- Experience developing short-term supply/demand and pricing models across commodities (gas, NGLs, crude).
Technical Skills:
- Advanced modeling capabilities (e.g., supply/demand, pricing, scenario analysis);
- Proficiency in data integration and automation tools (e.g., Python, Power BI, SQL, Excel); and
- Experience building dashboards and scalable reporting tools.
Market Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of North American energy markets, including natural gas, NGLs, and crude;
- Familiarity with infrastructure dynamics, producer behavior, regulatory frameworks, and macroeconomic trends; and
- Experience working with third-party data providers (e.g., Wood Mackenzie, S&P Global, Enervus, Rystad, Energy Aspects, etc.).
Strategic Acumen:
- Ability to support strategic planning, M&A evaluations, and long-range forecasting;
- Experience contributing to board-level materials and enterprise-wide planning cycles;
- Communication & Collaboration;
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across commercial, strategy, and operations teams;
- Ability to translate complex market insights into actionable business recommendations; and
- Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
