Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for an Accountant, Financial Reporting to join the team in a permanent full-time role.  This position reports to the Supervisor, Internal Financial Reporting in the Accounting Services Unit, part of Pembina’s Financial Service Division. 

 

The Accounting Service Unit (ASU) provides financial reporting and accounting leadership across Pembina's Service Units and is responsible for the preparation and compilation of Pembina's consolidated financial statements, notes, MD&A, and operational highlights. The team is also responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to accounting policies, review and analysis of new accounting standards and interpretations, accounting for capital assets, legal entity reporting and regulatory compliance and maintaining SAP FI/CO data integrity.
 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Perform various duties in support of both internal monthly scorecard reporting, and quarterly external financial reporting; 
  • Develop a high degree of comfort with key systems: BPC, SAP, Analysis for Office, and Workiva;
  • Support in preparation and delivery of monthly internal reporting package with specific focus on preparing the balance sheet and cash flow statements; 
  • Support the quarterly management discussion and analysis and financial statement process including but not limited it, preparing supplemental reports, gathering data, and performing tie-outs; 
  • Preparation of additional reporting requirements, for example Statistics Canada requests;
  • Support and maintain open communication with all ASU and FSU departments including but not limited to Accounting Policy, Legal Entity, Tax, Treasury, and Corporate Planning;
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Business Units; and
  • Other projects as assigned by the Supervisor, Internal Financial Reporting. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance along with a CPA accounting designation;
  • Recent experience in quarter-end and year-end reporting would be an asset;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience;
  • External audit experience with a public accounting firm preferred;
  • Comfortable with understanding and learning accounting systems including SAP and related consolidation system, BPC experience is an asset;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hardworking environment where successful employees are comfortable embracing change as a standard; 
  • The ability to identify key IFRS financial reporting issues through practical application of accounting and operational knowledge;
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and ability to multi-task;
  • Quick learner who is self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines in a continuously changing environment; and
  • Effective communication, organization, and team-building skills complemented by a strong work ethic and ability to prioritize responsibilities.
