Overview:

Pembina Calgary office is actively hiring for a Supervisor, Financial Accounting, to join the Pipelines Division Operations Financial Services team.  This position reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting & Accounting, and will lead a team of accountants responsible for the regulatory and external financial reporting and technical accounting for the Pipelines Division.  

 

Pembina's assets include a strategically positioned network of pipelines and related infrastructure, encompassing various hubs and terminals. This network facilitates the transportation of crude oil, condensate, and natural gas liquids across significant areas of Alberta, as well as parts of British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and the United States. These integrated assets enable us to offer long-term, dedicated transportation services to our customers. 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Provide leadership, visible commitment, and engagement with employees including timely goal setting, clear guidance, and performance management to continually enhance the employment experience of all Pembina employees and be an Employer of Choice;  
  • Supervise monthly accounting activities including review of journal entries, variance analysis, regulatory reporting and account reconciliations;  
  • Participate in the quarterly and annual various regulatory reporting submissions;   
  • Assist with preparation and review of contract interpretations to support various GAAP and adherence to Pembina’s Accounting Policy;   
  • Ensure accurate quarterly disclosure preparations from the Pipelines business units required for Pembina consolidated financial statements;  
  • Assist with the development of internal documentation for all significant accounting processes to ensure the adherence to Pembina’s Accounting Policy;   
  • Liaise with key members of the division including Business Planning, Corporate Accounting, Regulatory and Commercial Services to ensure the accuracy of accounting;  
  • Support various audit engagements;  
  • Champion process improvement and maintain internal control documentation;   
  • Special projects as required; and  
  • Participate in and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.  

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Finance or Accounting along with a professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) and progressive accounting experience;   
  • Established people leader with track record of leading high performance teams;  
  • Motivated self-starter who performs well independently and within a team environment; ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities;  
  • Organized, detailed, and able to consistently deliver accurate and timely information;  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interface positively and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders;  
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills;  
  • Experience working on projects and ability to manage multiple competing demands under tight deadlines;  
  • Proven experience with and understanding of IFRS 15, and/or 16;  
  • Willingness to be curious and tenacious;  
  • Strong expertise with MS Office tools, particularly Excel;  
  • Experience with SAP, BPC, and software implementation would be considered an asset;   
  • Experience with Regulatory Accounting would be considered a significant asset; and
  • Experience in oil and gas, and specifically midstream/pipeline industry would be considered an asset.
