Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Financial Compliance & Reporting in the Accounting Service Unit (ASU), part of Pembina’s Financial Services Division.

ASU provides financial reporting and accounting leadership across Pembina and is responsible for the preparation and compilation of Pembina's consolidated financial statements, notes, MD&A, and operational highlights. The team is also responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to accounting policies, review and analysis of new accounting standards and interpretations, accounting for capital assets, legal entity reporting and regulatory compliance and maintaining SAP data integrity.

The Accountant, Legal Entity Reporting will be responsible for accurate financial reporting at the legal entity level as well as monthly accounting and related quarterly reporting. The successful candidate is a team player with strong understanding of the financial reporting requirements, and problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Preparing annual IFRS-compliant legal entity financial statements, notes to the financial statements, and working papers;
  • Preparing quarterly reports for Pembina consolidated financial reporting; including related party reports;
  • Preparing working papers for the audit of annual regulated pipeline and trust financial statements;
  • Compiling financial information and preparing working papers for compliance filings and other regulatory submissions;
  • Assisting with recording tax reorganizations;
  • Preparing monthly actual and forecast intercompany loan interest entries and maintaining intercompany loan schedule;
  • Analyzing intercompany transactions and recording settlement entries;
  • Preparing general ledger account reconciliations and variance analysis;
  • Supporting the Tax department and assisting with preparing selected annual filings and addressing queries from tax authorities;
  • Assisting with legal entity setup and testing;
  • Supporting and maintaining open communications within the Accounting Services Unit division; and
  • Other legal entity and compliance reporting tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation or working towards accounting designation;
  • Degree in business and/or accounting;
  • Experience with SAP and SAP Business Planning & Consolidation or similar large ERP systems would be considered an asset;
  • Advanced level with MS Excel would be an asset while strong skills in other Microsoft applications is desirable;
  • Energetic, positive and motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to generate superior results under tight deadlines;
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrated leadership potential; and
  • Effective communication, organization, and time management skills.

 

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
