Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting an Intern Engineer Student to join the Technical Services Unit (TSU) team, for a 12–16-month fixed term, starting September 2025. This position reports to the Manager of Asset Lifecycle Management.
On behalf of Pembina’s Business Units (BUs), the Technical Services Unit manages a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes asset management, product quality & measurement, geographical information system), integrity project execution, and automation services. TSU provides leading technical expertise that optimizes performance and minimizes operational and project risk. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance across our pipeline, integrity and facility projects. Your expertise and leadership will contribute to the successful delivery of projects that have a lasting impact on the energy industry and the communities we serve.
Our team provides Engineering technical support to projects and operations, covering an exceptionally broad set of disciplines such as rotating equipment/turbomachinery, reliability, pipeline and piping engineering, welding engineering, and electrical engineering.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
The primary areas of responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables for this position will depend on priorities but also consider the experience, capacity and personal interests of the successful candidate, and may include but be limited to:
- Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
- Troubleshooting and data analytics in support of Reliability Initiatives;
- Participation in root cause analyses (RCA) of major equipment failures;
- Digitization of pump performance curves;
- Design, build, create content, and transfer data for the department’s SharePoint Page;
- Support the Rotating Equipment Engineers in building equipment screens in AVEVA PI;
- Support integration activities for the pending acquisition of Alliance Pipeline;
- User acceptance testing of the Engineering specification deviation process tool;
- Assist in developing equipment maintenance programs, obsolescence strategies, and critical spare parts requirements for rotating equipment;
- Assist with the management of the Condition Monitoring Program; and
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Completion of third year of a four-year accredited Mechanical Engineering program;
- Committed to learning and working hard in a results-driven team environment;
- Past experience working as part of a team (work related or extra-curricular) would be considered an asset;
- Past field experience in an industrial operations or maintenance setting would be considered an asset;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint; and
- Excellent technical writing skills.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
