Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is seeking an Engineering Intern to join the Asset Integrity Projects team, for a 18-month fixed term, starting May 2025. This position will report to the Supervisor, Asset Integrity Projects in the Technical Services Unit (TSU), part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division.
The role of Pembina’s Technical Services Unit (TSU) is to provide technical expertise and consistency across all of Pembina’s Business Unit (BU) Partners which involves the development and governance of standards, operation risk management, specifications, and procedures. TSU works in conjunction with other Service Unit Partners to support the business objectives and operational requirements of the Business Units.
As a key contributing member of the team the Engineering Intern is responsible for technical asset integrity project execution for Pembina’s 15,000 km of managed pipelines and multiple gas facilities across Western Canada and US.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Execute and support integrity projects require to maintain integrity of Pembina’s existing facilities and pipeline systems. Manage several projects with various size budgets and scope with aggressive timelines;
- Accountable for overall project delivery; project development and design including the scope, cost estimates, planning and scheduling, cost control, project execution plan, regulatory approvals and procurement;
- Collaborate with technical specialists, the construction execution group to scope and BU Partners to design and execute integrity projects;
- Ensure projects meet all safety, technical, operational and quality requirements defined in Pembina’s specifications and standards and industry regulatory codes;
- Travel to field locations as required; and
- Manage project’s cost within budget and schedule, providing monthly cost forecast and variance analysis as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Full or partial completion of third year of a four-year accredited Engineering program;
- Committed to learning and working hard in a results-driven team environment;
- Past experience working as part of a team (work related or extra-curricular) would be considered an asset;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
- Good technical writing skills a strong asset;
- Demonstrate understanding of basic principles related to engineering; and
- Previous experience working in an engineering environment would be beneficial.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
