Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for an Intern Student to join the Damage Prevention & Public Awareness (DPPA) team, for an 8-month fixed term, starting May 2025. This position reports to the Manager, DPPA in the External Services Unit (ESU), part of Pembina’s External Affairs division. This person requires the ability to develop working relationships and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including vendors, industry partners, internal business and service units as well as front line workers. The External Affairs Service Unit brings together Land, Communications and Government Relations to provide essential services to projects and to ongoing Pembina business.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Assist with intake, prioritization, and initial review of third-party crossing applications;
- Review temporary vehicle and equipment crossing applications, including conducting surface load calculations and preparing supporting documentation;
- Support development, testing, and implementation of updated crossings tool;
- Support with preparation of cost estimates, project summaries, and agreements;
- Review and update DPPA Standards to ensure adherence to regulation;
- Support the development of improved processes and supporting documentation;
- Perform data analytics for reporting and measure of program effectiveness;
- Ensure various records are maintained and audit ready;
- Participate in preparation and execution of Public Awareness Program; and
- Collaborate with stakeholders in alignment with Pembina values.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in post-secondary degree program, engineering, architecture, or planning (technical background preferred);
- Understanding of basic concepts related to surface loadings, vehicle weight analysis, soils properties, and liquid/gaseous pressure assessment;
- Experience using load assessment software, crossings analysis, and familiarity with basic construction activities;
- Ability to understand and apply standards and regulations;
- Proficiency in reading/reviewing survey plans and engineering/construction drawings;
- Self-motivated, adaptable team player with a strong work ethic; comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment;
- Proven ability to initiate and manage change, be innovative, problem solve, think strategically, and prioritize key tasks;
- Superior communication skills with ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders;
- Proficient in MS365 applications, GIS viewer, Visio, PowerBI;
- Keen interest in process improvement and innovation and;
- Willingness to commit to an 8-month fixed term contract.
The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
