Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Damage Prevention & Public Awareness (DPPA) team is recruiting for an Advisor, Damage Prevention & Public Awareness to support their service offering across the organization.  This position reports to the Manager, Damage Prevention & Public Awareness in the External Services Unit (ESU).

 

The Advisor will be responsible for key elements of the Damage Prevention Program including plan development, documentation, execution, assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on providing inputs to bridge the gap between regulation, procedure, and field execution.

 

The individual will have solid pipeline experience and must be able to apply regulation, procedures, and best practice to guide stakeholders with Damage Prevention activities (essentially, bridging the gap between procedure and field execution).  This role will require periodic travel to support Pembina Business Units in Canada and United States.

 

The External Affairs Service Unit brings together Safety, Land, Legal, Communications, Indigenous Engagement, Environment, Regulatory, Community Investment and Government Relations to effectively mobilize project support, while ensuring proper governance and controls are in place.

 

The success applicant can be based out of Minot ND USA, or Calgary AB CA. Residency is required for either location. 

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • As part of the DPPA team, execute the Damage Prevention and Public Awareness Program in applicable areas of Pembina business, including operations, construction, and third-party activity;
  • Maintaining DPPA Standards and processes to meet regulatory and internal requirements;
  • Ensuring the DPPA processes and procedures are appropriately reflected in accordance with Pembina’s management system;
  • Supporting program adherence, including documentation, communication, and provides on-going guidance/support as required;
  • Communicating DPPA messaging with key internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Participating in hazard and risk assessments with intent to mitigate potential for first, second, and/or third-party damages to Pembina infrastructure; 
  • Support of crossing assessments via damage prevention and field operations perspective.  May include use of crossing assessment tools; 
  • Support in the tracking and documenting lifecycles of crossing requests and One Call tickets;
  • Acting as a primary DPPA contact for field operations, engineering and construction, and project personnel (which includes periodic field visits);
  • Planning/liaison with respect to depth of cover monitoring, mitigation, and reporting. 
  • Assisting in addressing any non-compliance items related to damage prevention; 
  • Supporting incident investigations involving unauthorized activities and/or infrastructure damage;
  • Participating in various internal and external (industry) DPPA related initiatives; 
  • Participating in the Damage Prevention Working Group and assisting with development of and training of key elements of the DPPA Program;  
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary degree/certificate and/or equivalent experience in the field of damage prevention systems;
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pipeline construction or operations with 5 years of progressive experience in Damage Prevention-related roles; 
  • Extensive practical knowledge of Canadian and US Damage Prevention regulation / Best Practice and can apply knowledge in a variety of scenarios; 
  • Knowledge of pipeline crossing practices and regulation; 
  • Self-motivated, independent, team player with a strong work ethic and initiative; 
  • Proven ability to initiate and manage change, be innovative, problem solve, think strategically, and prioritize key tasks;
  • Superior communication skills with proven abilities engaging stakeholders to achieve results;
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, GIS viewers, and applicable industry applications (Utilisphere, DIRT Tool, Blueworks, etc.); 
  • Experience with project management and working with field personnel is preferred;
  • Knowledge of industry networks and associations (Common Ground Alliance, etc.) is preferred. 

 

This position is considered “Safety Sensitive” so will require Pre-Employment Drug & Alcohol Testing.  You may also be required to provide a Driver’s Abstract.
