Overview:


Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Damage Prevention & Public Awareness (DPPA) team is recruiting for an Advisor, Damage Prevention & Public Awareness, to support their service offering across the organization.  This position reports to the Manager, Damage Prevention & Public Awareness in the External Affairs Unit.

The Advisor is required to have direct pipeline experience and will be responsible for supporting various elements of the Pembina Damage Prevention Program. These elements include Training & Competency, Land Use Monitoring, Depth of Cover Monitoring, One Call Notification, Locating & Marking, Ground Disturbance, Pipeline Crossing, Right-of-Way Patrol, and Public Awareness.   Support includes development, documentation, execution, assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement, focusing on bridging the gap between procedure development and field execution.

This role requires periodic travel to support Pembina Business Units in Canada and United States.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

 

  • Implement and maintain DPPA Standards to meet or exceed regulatory requirements and industry best practices;
  • Ensuring the DPPA Program is appropriately aligned to Pembina’s Operating Management System;
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to promote damage prevention practices;
  • Conduct educational outreach and training sessions to ensure awareness and successful execution of the DPPA Program;
  • Supporting field operations, engineering and construction, and project personnel as DPPA subject matter expert;
  • Participating in hazard/risk assessments to put in place mitigations intended to prevent damage to Pembina infrastructure (may include Crossings support);
  • Investigate and respond to reports of Unauthorized Activities or potential threats to pipeline integrity;
  • Participation in program review, field inspections, and audits, including collaboration with internal teams to address conformance and compliance items;
  • Representing DPPA team via working groups/damage prevention initiatives;
  • Leverage emerging Damage Prevention technologies, tools, and best practices that can be used to enhance efficiency and improve processes; and
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

 

  • Post-Secondary education and/or equivalent experience in the field of damage prevention systems;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in pipeline construction, maintenance, or operations;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in relevant Damage Prevention role(s);
  • Practical knowledge of pipeline regulation, standards, and Damage Prevention Best Practice (cross-border experience considered an asset);
  • Proven ability to innovate, think strategically, and manage change;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage and educate diverse stakeholders;
  • Self-motivated team player with a focus on problem solving and customer service;
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
  • Experience working in office and field-based settings;
  • Established relationships and experience working with industry partners/associations;
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, GIS mapping tools, and applicable applications; and
  • Valid driver’s license.
