Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary’s office is actively hiring for a Cost Analytics & Reporting Senior Analyst to join the team.  This position reports to the Manager, Cost Analytics & Reporting in the Financial Planning & Analysis team, part of Pembina’s Financial Services division.

 

The Financial Services team supports the company's major decisions through an in-depth understanding of financial health in the short term and long term, credit and market risk, weighted average cost of capital, and capital markets opportunities to pursue growth (considering financing strategy, M&A opportunities, etc.). The team is responsible to understand the current state as well as the future state across a variety of scenarios, and their potential impact to external stakeholders (such as shareholders and rating agencies).

 

This role is critical to Finance’s success, requiring a strategic and business-focused professional who can lead driver-based forecasting, integrated reporting, and KPI management across the cost management function. Acting as a trusted advisor to Cost Business Partners, Corporate Planning, and operational leaders, the Senior Analyst translates complex financial data into actionable insights that support informed decision-making, cost discipline, and performance improvement. The Senior Analyst is responsible for establishing and maintaining robust cost data, reporting frameworks, analytics tools, and master data governance, while identifying trends, cost optimization opportunities, and recoverable costs through collaboration with Strategic Business Partners.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

 

Driver-Based Forecasting & Analytics Stewardship

  • Act as a steward of driver-based cost forecasting by maintaining a deep understanding of cost behaviour and operational drivers to ensure accurate, consistent, and repeatable forecasting, modelling, and reporting across cost categories;
  • Build, maintain, and run analytical models where appropriate to support scenario and sensitivity analysis; and
  • Own or support forecasting for corporately managed cost categories, such as power, travel, meals and entertainment, and other centralized costs.

 

Advanced Cost Analysis & Reporting

  • Design, build, and enhance consolidated cost reporting and dashboards across all assets while providing insightful variance analysis that clearly communicates key drivers, risks, emerging trends, and performance insights to asset teams and executive stakeholders; and
  • Consolidate asset level and corporate level cost forecasts and results into total spend and enterprise views to support STIP metric evaluation and other corporate reporting deliverables.

 

Master Data Governance & Reporting Excellence

  • Establish and steward cost related master data governance standards, in partnership with Accounting, IS, and Finance stakeholders;
  • Drive improvements to data quality, consistency, and transparency, enabling more reliable forecasting, reporting, and analytics; and
  • Serve as the functional lead for enhancements to reporting, analytics, and software platforms, partnering closely with the Specialist, Cost Optimization to ensure tools, models, and data structures effectively support business needs, cost optimization initiatives, benchmarking, and scalable enterprise decision-making.

 

KPI & Performance Measurement Support

  • Provide senior level support to KPI development, ensuring metrics are meaningful, consistent, and tied to drivers; and
  • Support STIP and other corporate reporting requirements by leveraging variance analysis from Cost Business Partners and translating complex financial results into clear, concise performance narratives and actionable insights for leadership.

 

Business Partnering & Ad Hoc Analysis

  • Partner with Cost Business Partners and Strategic Business Partners to evaluate contract-related forecasting considerations, including cost recoverability, risks, and financial impacts, while leveraging data-driven insights to identify emerging cost optimization opportunities; and
  • Deliver high-quality ad hoc analysis to support leadership requests and strategic initiatives.

 

Process Improvement & Additional Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve cost forecasting, reporting, and analysis processes and ensure consistency and standardization;

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in financial analysis and business performance management;
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), cost management, or operational finance;
  • A recognized professional designation such as CPA or CFA is preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, facilitate, and influence effectively, translating complex financial analysis into clear, concise insights while applying strong analytical and financial modelling skills to navigate ambiguity and support decision-making;
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with business partners while effectively supporting and influencing senior leadership through collaboration, financial insight, and strategic decision-making;
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and influencing skills, including the ability to present complex analysis clearly and concisely; and
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining quality and accuracy, with a proactive, solution-oriented approach and strong ownership, accountability, and follow-through.
